Well back in late 2005 early 2006 I was not working and needed to sell some of my collection to pay some bills. Sadly that meant selling my two favourite Patrick Roy cards. Back then these two cards pulled in a lot of money and it had to be done.

Here is a picture of the two cards I sold from December 30th 2005

I never thought I would see either of them again but a few weeks ago this one popped up and I was able to grab it for a fraction of what I sold it for back then.

The cool thing is that I was the original owner of the card. I bought the redemption card off eBay and when it finally arrived I thought it was so cool being 33/50.

Anyway here it is back in my position and now should never leave it again.

If anyone sees the other card in the scan above I would love to get it back some day.

Thanks for all views and comments.

Awesome you got it back! There have been a couple cards like that for myself I tried to re-acquire years later but couldn't make it work, sadly. Good luck with the jumbo! Good thing is, it is very distinct.

WOW that jumbo patch ...GIMMEEEEEEE nice stuff Scott

I know Nick, I have wanted both of these back since the day I sold them. I doubt I will ever see the mega patch again but it gives me something to search for daily.

That’s a nice one. Congrats

Thank you. Happy to reacquire it.

Pretty good looking card! Hold on to that one now!

Yup, unless the world has other plans for me I am financially in a better position then I was when I needed to sell it before.

Thanks, fingers crossed it shows up again some day.

Love the back story on this card! Congrats!

That is what makes it special for me. Not that hard to find a patch auto of Roy /50 but how it came to be is what is great.

That card is stunning in every way possible.

Congrats on adding that to your collection once again :) On a card like that, seeing the Jersey # makes it that much cooler.

Thanks, plenty of other nice patches out there but this one has special meaning and I am a huge fan of a clean 33 in his auto.

Cool to see a card come back to papa. :D

Yup, happy to have it home where it belongs.

Very cool! Probably traveled around the world and now it's back

I wish I could recall if this was the person I sold it to all of those years ago or has it changed hands additional times. Would be very cool to be able to follow the journey.

Scott Congrats on reacquiring the card.

Thank you sir I was nervous watching an auction for the first time in years.

Great homecoming story! And the card’s pretty good too

Yeah, the card is solid but the story is what makes it for me.

Gorgeous congrats!!!!

Thanks, very happy.

Cool story Scott. Glad you got it back.

I am too, I tried not to get overly excited until it was back in my hands. Now I can mark out to it all I want.

One thing that also is kind of cool in my mind that I just noticed now is the ding on the right edge directly next to the Ultimate Collection logo. It doesn't appear to be there in the original photo, so it makes you wonder where along the line it got the ding and how it happened. Every card has a story!
