According to my distributor, Certified is now ...

Zoinks. As entertaining as I find it that UD has already released 4 of their allotted products for 11-12 and we're not even a month into the season, it is some very weaksauce indeed that Panini's sole contribution to the Expo breakage festival is going to be Score.

Certified's a very ambitious product to be trying to push out with new rookies in time for the expo. Last year, they used redemptions and got it done in time. This year, they vowed to do away with the redemptions (because, as far as I know, last year's still haven't been fulfilled) -- and it looks like it's forced a delay.

I wonder if a change in strategy might be in the cards for next year. Perhaps it would be safer to take a product that is somewhere in the vicinity of UD1 (such as Pinnacle), soup it up a bit, and get that out in time?

Agreed. I think if they ran out Pinnacle for the Expo and people saw how nice the breaks are, they'd be inclined to buy more.

Actually - I think that is where they fall down... Why be the same as UD??? Be better.

Certified was trouble-some due to the signatures on the RC's. It created redemptions for some levels but all and all, it was a great introduction product. It SOLD OUT.

For all the complaining on here about UD, why be like UD???

BE BETTER!!!

As for the date, Grosnor has it as Nov 23rd. The same day now as Pinnacle.

Because UD1 isn't what people complain about, and because going too far above and beyond (11-12 Certified) obviously didn't work.

I think Panini could turn Pinnacle or Donruss into a product that is better than UD1 in most ways, sans brand recognition of course. I'd like to see them try it.

As I think of it, Pinnacle might not be the best option, since collectors expect nufex parallels in that set. That probably wouldn't make it a good choice on a tight deadline near the beginning of the season.

Didn't work???? Find me a card shop that did not sell out of that product. And then sold out of the reorders time and time again.

Even at terrible reorder pricing, it sold and sold very very well.

Wow, it must be the best selling "flop" of all time

I'm not talking about how successful the product is (or will be, this year). I'm talking about getting it out in time for the expo. That didn't work.

Wow, this is shocking news. No Panini representation at Expo? That cannot be good for them...

No -- Certified won't be released, but Panini is supposed to be there. They already have partial plans for their redemptions listed on their blog.
