Let me start by saying Albert does make a great point about players should be on a playoff team that wins the MVP. However there always going to be examples of players who have awesome seasons where there team does not make the playoffs. Only 8 teams unless I am mistaken make the playoffs every year so should the mvp voting only start then during the playoffs and be based only on stats of players during the season? I don't know but I do know if I was voting this year I too would have taking Howard of Pujols. I am by no means saying Howard is a better player I am simply saying in my mind Howard had the better season thus the MVP vote. At any rate I heard this coming into work and I guess the first thing that came to my mind is---is Albert ego so large now that he has to whine about not winning the MVP award? He just won the World Series, he in my mind probably the best player in the league right now, he been on numerous S.I. covers and he worried about not winning the MVP award? He going to win more of them I am sure but I was a little disappointed he made his remarks public. From Espn.com

I like Albert but quit whining. He is turning into a crier. The Phillies had a better record than the Cards. Not Howards fault he played in a better division. Albert missed 20 games during the season, while howard played in 159 games. I think if they played the same amount of games Albert would have approached the 58 HRs and 149 RBIS that the MVP had.

Quit whining and sack up. Albert made 14 million last year, Howard made 355000---a very good deal for the Phils, Howard deserved to be MVP.

I disagree with Albert's statement. It's not a player's fault that he doesn't have much of a supporting cast. Look what Ryan Howard did for the Phillies. Some of the games they won, he accounted for all their runs. Look at the difference he made when Abreu went to the Yankees. Phillies was a playoff contender to the end of the regular season because of Howard. Pujols had a hot start until that injury. After the injury, he was hit and miss. If he would have played the entire season without that injury, then he would no doubt had won the MVP.

I'm a huge Albert Pujols fan, but his ego is getting a little too far out of control. When he made those remarks concerning Tom Glavine..I was actually in shock. How could he say that a 300 game winner "does what he always does by pitching 3 pitches."? (Keep in mind he DID strike you out. Now this..come on now Albert..I know you got jipped when you were having those huge seasons behind Bonds and didn't get the MVP..but you're having an unprecedented career..don't ruin by opening your mouth and saying things like this...
