Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Like The Cup?

I'll tell you one thing about The Cup....

for the low-mid end collectors that cant afford it, it's the one product that they aspire to have just one nice card from and that card would be the pinnacle of their collections.

I sell a lot of low-end cup singles to people that buy boxes of products such as Black Diamond, SPA, BTP, UD1 and UD2. theyre just thrilled to own a Cup card.

That's me. My collection is mostly low end but I do try to get the Devils ARPs. My 3 color Josefson, Tedenby and Corrente ARPs are three of my biggest cards even if they are really just $20 cards. But I'm ok with that

I'm not a fan of the Cup. My only Cup cards are from M-A Pouliot rookie season.

I'm more on retro themed stuff and vintage memorabilia. Stuff like Decades, Canada Vs The World, ITG Ultimate, ...

I used to collect The Cup until I saw Dominion last year... I love Dominion, huge generous patch for high end products, and more RC /99 in the set, plus game-used/worn in Dominion versus photo craps in The Cup. I don't see myself buying The Cup Hall or Eberle, rather have Dominion.

I am more of a fan of this year's cup than of the post Malkin year... but at the same time with Prime and Dominion out there... sure makes a guy wonder why people shell out the big bucks for the high end RC...

Not a fan of the cup due to event worn, photo shoot, no thanks I prefer game worn/game used stuff, not stuff worn in a day then sent for cards. For the price of the cup tin i would rather open ITG Ultimate or get singles I want.

I really really dislike the goofy 180 pt card stock. Put thos POE autos on thinnner stock and they would be sweeeeet. I guess the fat cards are supposed to make you feel better about spending a car payment on a pack of 6 cards

hahaha you're probably right. A pack of six cards and four of them are Scott Gomez, Dan Boyle and two Derek Roys lol. I still don't get how this stuff is hand packed and I see tins every year yielding the same player in there twice. I don't get that at all :|

+$500 for a pack is just pure insaness and only few of these boxes actually contains nice hits (like 1 out every 10 boxes or more) compared with Dominion or Prime who're much cheaper and has a 50% ratio of nice hits (so a nice hits in 1 of 2 boxes form what I had seen).

But huge hits from The Cup series can sells for 5-digits of $....
But too expensive and risky for me!

Dominion is more eye opening in my opinion. You see a sick patch card, followed by a tag card, followed by another cool looking patch card, followed by a triple auto, its like every pack delivered something that was like..wow thats cool! The cup its so blahhhhhh

Funny part is my favorite set is OPC. One of the coolest sets with a nice vintage feel to it and lots of cool inserts to pull.

I love Cup, not gonna lie. And after the dumb luck I had last night, I like it even more. (Separate S&T to come later on that).

On OPC, I agree on the inserts comment. I love those sticker cards this year. I don't know why, most people probably think they are ugly, but something about them takes me right back to the 80's and sorting out cards on my bedroom carpet not really worrying much about the corners and edges.

But I love Cup cards especially being a Scheifele chaser this year.

I hope you are at trade night, I to some issues that we could intelligently discuss about "the cup", lol. I just cant beleive how much a roman horak arp is gonna fetch, even if it is "the cup" lol

I will be there Jay. Glad to see you are able to squeeze in some time to hang out with your fellow collectors finally!

Not very impressed with the limited logos this year. Maybe that can be attributed to Panini Prime's ridiculous patches in the Colors set(great job Panini btw). I may be in the minority, but I don't like the team Canada limited logos either. Most of them don't display much of the logo and are just red. From a PC standpoint, I figured Martin St. Louis and Lecavalier wouldn't be in there very much, but I think it's really disappointing in the lack of Stamkos in the product.

Add me to the list. I like some of the cards (not a lot), but due to it's price, not for me.
