So I had to go pick up a Fed Ex package today. Had no idea what it was because I wasn't expecting anything being sent by
Fed Ex. So I pick up the package and it's from Upper Deck. I found it odd because I have no outstanding redemptions.

Open the box and pull out this letter:

Then I reach in and pull out this:

Then there's a bubble mailer with these:

I saw this and I was completely floored by this act of kindness. I just want to say thanks to the person(s) responsible for this amazing act. I really appreciate it in so many ways.

The box I'm going to open with my three year old son. So it also serves as some Daddy/son time as well. Will post the box break later.

Again I just want to say Thanks for this.

Wow another great act by Upper Deck! Great to hear they are looking after some of their most important customers! Good luck with the break!

How did they get your contact info? Exisiting in the UD system I assume. Congrats, have fun, that's pretty cool, good on them.

Hey UD, ITG, Panini I quit buying boxes but might be convinced to come back ;) Well I did buy a box of opc

Great gesture by Upper Deck. Not usually a huge fan but I have to give them a big kudos on this one. They've obviously got at least one great employee in the hockey dept.

I once sent UD a "thank you" email for their excellent work with Parkhurst Champions. I said kind things that I don't even say to my best friends. Long story short it was ignored. I've had only lousy experiences with UD.

It's nice to know their new CS strategy is bribing the customer into liking them.

Congrats though, I hope you and your son have fun breaking that box :)

I've seen this a bit with UD as of late. You really do have to tip your hat, great way to win a customer back and make an impression on those who read this. Reminds me of all those glasses and free beer sent to me from Labatt back in the day

Congrats and good luck on the box

This was part of Upper Deck's random acts of kindness campaign and this was exactly that.

Nice work Upper Deck and in particular the employee there who reached out to me to verify Dave's address.

Dave, good luck with the box break and like the card says, welcome back to the hobby!

Now to the part I wish I didn't have to deal with...

A couple things here...

First, if you send a complimentary email to a company to praise their product, do it without the expectation of something in return. I suppose in this hobby where we attribute value to inherently worthless pieces of cardboard, there will be little to no altruism. Sad.

Second, just about every goods and services company out there has some sort of loyalty program and all of us lifers should thank UD for trying to bring in and keep more people in the hobby.

I really hope that no one else taints this thread.

Great story, and even greater job by the UD team for doing this. I have a sneaky suspicion that CC has something to do with this, as he is nothing but a class act, but annonimous works too, to add to the suspense. Let us know what you get in your box. Very exciting, I`ll bet!

Wow thats awesome....this is the first time i have seen this from a company, being as personal as it was with a nice hand written note. I think it is a great way to encourage customer loyalty....now if UD is feeling generous....im accepting...lol
great pick ups and look forwatd to see whats in the box
cheers

This. Most card shops nominated a customer or local collector for the Random Acts of Kindness program. Odds are your LCS nominated you for the program. Yet another reason to shop at your local card shop!

I cannot believe a members post, completely positive and greatful, posting about an awesome and unexpected "GIFT" and the enjoyment he will get from sharing it with his son, is met with a response such as the one equating it to a bribe. Absolutely obsurd, and exactly what is wrong with the hobby these days. Talk about raining on someone's parade, I wish a mod would just delete that post altogether and remove the negativity from an awesome post by the OP.

Dwilton, congrats on the amazing gift, and enjoy busting that wax with your son. These are priceless times we get to share with our kids, enjoy every second of it!

well done to all involved. lets get new blood in this hobby , for the love of the hobby

It is a win-win for both sides, the customer and for UD. This is the type of thing that keeps a regular collector feeling reinvigorated by the hobby and hopefully serves to attract the newer collector to the fold. A little generosity can go a long way sometimes...
