Folks! It's been a while since I did a mailcall. I'm usually just not bothered to fire up the scanner, but since getting back to Hong Kong I can't say I've had a hell of a lot to do.
One thing got to another and so the sorting and scanning proceeded. What I have realised is that a lot of cards I actually pick up, never make it back with me from London for whatever reason - another member here needs it, I get bored with it and it ends up on eBay, or for one reason or another I buy it with the intention of keeping it in my PC, but it ends up getting shifted instead. With that, it's probably time to move on and really focus (or re-focus) on the stuff I like instead of accumulating and liquidating!
Before I start - I'm also slightly embarrassed at how little of these came from members of HI. I can admit to hardly trading these days because of what little loot I have left. But at the same time it seems that a lot less product has been opened on these boards. Perhaps it's just the monopoly burnout and that we'll return to normal service soon.
Enough with the talk and on with the show. All the cards here are unavailable - a few bits and bobs first:
The first card has already been moved on to Craig (hockeykid87) for his PC. Another example of one I thought I'd keep but didn't in the end. The other two go on in my ongoing Luc Bourdon collection. These are the 6th and 7th copies. Sad to see that his prices have drastically started cooling off in the last two seasons or so and now these can be had at about 8-12 instead of the regular 25 they were fetching about a year after his sad passing.
This one was purchased just during the (fruitless) run to the cup. I don't have many Sedin autos, especially one of these together. It will probably end up going out of the PC sooner or later, but for now ... gotta keep one of the league MVP! Thanks goes to Jon (cassijon) for a great deal on a great card!
Hadn't seen too many of these look this stunning so I felt obliged to pick it up when I was in a bit of a nostalgic mood. Those who know me know I usually only collect scribbles so this one is a bit of an oddball in my collection.
I'll save the commentary on these two as I have forgotten which years they are from. Don't let the numbering fool you on the Save on Foods auto - I've only ever seen 3 and owned two of those.
A bit of change from here on as a new PC of Ryan Kesler is revealed! Most of these I have picked up from the last 6 months or so, but others will be from a bit longer back.
While most of these will be scribbles, this is a pretty cool card and one I've had my eye on for a while. It came free from Kev (kmitchell) a class act in all ways possible. He caught wind of my dealings with Randy (Orca Pod) and sent this and many other Keslers without asking for anything in return. Thanks Kev!
These scans are a bit wonky, but the main part of the cards are still captured - the cards have been returned to 'the box' and won't escape to be rescanned for sometime yet. In any case, these come from Randy who was downsizing and generously offered to move these. Randy is sarcastic and pushy ... but not too bad of a guy.
Just kidding! He's another ace trader that I wouldn't hesitate to deal with again!
A whole stack of Kesler autos here - my favorite is the Statscription. Special mention also to Elliot (echoi69) another one of our fine BC members for the Kesler/Raymond dual. His cards somehow made it over the Atlantic in record time - three days from payment in fact!
Finally, a bit of an OCD fix:
I've cheated a bit here as not all of the cards are new. At the same time, not all of the copies I own are scanned. At last count, I had 22 of the Beehive Ready for Framings and 8 of the SPGU Dual Inked Patches. My fondness for these have been documented before, so in an effort to keep relevant, I present them again. Of the bunch, 4 of the Beehives and 2 of the Inked Patches were obtained in the past 9 months. Please let me know if you see either card out there - I will pay very generously to obtain more copies of either.
That's it for now folks!
Julian
