I took the time to make a post on the UD website. It is under an old board name I used when I started collecting again. I believe that we as group should post what makes us happy and or unhappy with what happens on ONE thread. It has recieved alot of hits but not many voices.

We as a whole create the community of collecting so I believe we should work towards what needs to be acceptable in the hobby. The card companies respond to us along with the financial market. I don't think as a unified group we always take that into consideration.

The latest change has brought 3 competitors into our world. Dr.Price still seems to be the one who is the most creative with his ability to adjust to the changing market and makes himself visible at large venues. The other 2 backed by big money need to hear what we find acceptable.

As a whole we need to think about what the hobby will look like when the NHL signs a new agreement for our hobby. Lets start to make the changes we want to see and remember, we support the products that we buy and don't by. I hope everyone remembers that when spending that hard earned dollar.

Not to be negative, but I think the idea behind your thread is somewhat redundant. All hobby boards, and in my opinion this one in particular, are breeding grounds for open discussion of likes, and dislikes in the hobby. Ultimately, that is why they exist.
I think the reason people aren't posting much, is that when something specific comes to
mind, they tend to create individual threads.

I do see your point but it sounds like you missed mine. The idea is to follow the link to the Upper Deck website and post your thoughts on my thread. That way UD has one thread to read on their site not tons on other sites. After that then post here if you did.

Now when they lost exlusivity and their monopol want to know what we collectors expect ,need ,what we are thinking ?? Losers!! I dont speak english very well so I cant describe exactly how stupid it is a how much I despise them.Dont You think for this is to little to late?This company mean nothing to me I love ITG they make real hockey cards and always care about what collectors like and want no just one upon a five years .I hope Panini can do better job and the competition get large.This all is another prove of UDs arrogant behaviour.ITG and Panini please kick these giant You know where......

Brian utilizes this site and is very active, has conducted polls, argues with UD lovers (like me - like that one Brian?) plus defends and supports and promotes his business initiatives..
Al is on this site and has made us aware of Panini's upcoming products.

I understand all of that. I guess that in my opinion that one thread on a home website so employees, other collectors from other boards, suppliers, retailers, heck anyone and anyone can go and see in one place makes good sense to me.

If you look at the views on it compared to any thing else on the fourms what do you get from it. I get that people at UD who have access to a computer have viewed it or do view it. I'm the type of person who takes it right to the source and works from there, that's all. I know not everyone is that way.

Something that I thought I could bring to UD as a collector. Simply put my contribution.

Scott, Karvin left UD several months ago - so at this point, UD's presence on this site is pretty minimal. That being said, I agree with your thoughts on this.

The online community is important, that can't be argued. But it's also important to keep in perspective that the online community as a whole is not necessarily the be all and end all with the hobby overall.

This is common when people come to a understand that you need to participate within the community. When you realize your accountable for your actions you change your views. My opinion is that 5 years is way to long of a contract and it should have 3 companies involved not 2. The bigger the company chances are they are a lot more out of touch with what is going on.

Yes, I realize Karvin (who's name I spelt incorrectly) has left UD but my point is that they (all manufacturers) know these on-line collector communities exist and are a free opportunity to promote or involve collectors.

If they don't, it is their loss.

Manufactureres being vocal on trading sites may not always be positive. I believe that the good folks at Upper Deck do read these boards, in silence, and then make executive decisions within the company to make necessary change. Having a spokesman from the company on these boards may at times be counter productive, leaving some members unwilling to speak out once the representatives become too vocal or opinionated.

Simply my opinion, and I am not advocating that our comments should be or should not be made at a company's website as was the intent of this thread, but I am not in favour of company representatives taking part in conversations/discussions that should be left between collectors. Reading our rants, concerns, or positive comments can achieve just as much or more than engaging in an exchange of words within a thread.

This is a good point of what I'm trying to make. We contribute to the success and failure to what happens. By bringing ideas, opinions and dislikes to companies.

If we don't take points too the source they might not hear them. If one person over looks what is being posted that can be a daunting task. Eventually you just hear the samething. But when you have more people viewing something chances are you can get something different. It is true , a mistake is something you have not taken the full advantage of yet.

What has happened to UD has cost us all. Really think about that. I don't want it to cost me much more then it already has do you? Is everyone just going to stop buying their products? No, I'm sure that's what the NHL thought when they wouldn't renew with ITG. Look what happened, Dr.Price became more creative and respected when dealing directly with these individuals he works with.
