Seems that it's ineed a huge renaissance for retired goalies in the hobby at lately for some years now....some amazing prices for numerous retired goalies who had like zero hobby love just for some years ago, just check with Beezer who was almost "dead" for just 2 years ago but at lately he gained a huge boost in card and price-wise, same with goalies like Potvin, Irbe, Moog, Richter etc who suddenly sells for huge buck and gets numerous of cards long after they got retired.
Pretty amazing that some retired goalies fetchs more in price than many nicer cards with Roy and Brodeur in nowadays, but Price is still the indisputable number one in price-wise without any competition.
Sadly that this auction reeks cat junk IMO, with some strange bid activity of some bidders. Hilarious to see that card was going for 3x of the price which I bought my 12-13 Superlative 1/1 card with Lemieux/Jagr/Francis/MAF/Barasso (not from same set but still!)
The truth is that there are not many other teams can brag with a such amazing set up of 4 goalies from same franchise like NYR as on that card....but the price still remains a bit too hefty....
