Anyone ever attend the draft?

I'm wondering what to expect for the upcoming draft in Ottawa, as far as autograph oppourtunities? also who from the organizations usually attend the draft -- coaches, scouts etc?

any help appreciated

From watching the DRAFT on the TV. Each team has a pretty good representation of their coaching & scouts. As well, the GM is in attendance.

As for auto opportunities. It all depends if they chose to stop to give you a scribble.. The Draftee's are usually pretty good from what I've read.

There was a story in Beckett a few years ago about the draft and that people would be standing in line for food and they would look around and see the top draft picks standing in line with them. One person I do remember being mentioned was Spezza. Good luck and keep your eyes open

The tickets are likely to depend on the team running the draft, it was open to all in Carolina in '04. The draftees were generally great about signing. If you caught some of the coaches and former players when things were not intense for their team or family, they were pretty good as well. I know several people that came away with 20-30 autos, including about half of the first round picks.

if you go MAKE SURE YOU DONT TAKE PEOPLE WHO DONT LIKE HOCKEY AS MUCH AS YOU DO, that was the most brutal part, i could have stayed there all day (i went to the one in Vancouver 2 years back) but the people i was with wanted to go....

i still ended up with 40+ auto's its CRAZY you see ex-players walking around the arena, you see draftees just chillin EVERYWHERE

and when i went siblings of drafted players were there like every Staal Brother, and Anthony Stewart, there were a TON of hockey gods there, Gretzky, Bowman, Yzerman to name 3


it was amazing, next time theres a draft close to the west coast im going it was one of the best days of my life.

I was definately thinking of going this year but would have no clue where to go other than to where the draft is being held lol
