Anyone noticed the grading difference in pack pulled VS. redeemed cards?

I know the obvious reasons being the pack ones are in soft mylar, are machine sorted and generally not gently handled. Every card I have got back from a UD redemption, usually and rookie redemtion or late hard signed auto, almost always grades 9+. I haven't graded many hard pack cards like Ult or Cup, but am curious about that. Pacific was always good about replacing a damaged RC, but I didn't like it when they hand numbered them. I did send in a Howe Ultimate jersey card. It looked perfect to me, but graded a 7 due to the fact the jersey swatch caused a 'bulge' on the back. Don't most all jersey cards do that? It was an 03/04 UD Ult.
I normally won't grade cards like this, but i wanted a sealed Howe GU and it was a free grade.

I can say with almost 100% certainty that your Howe card did not grade that low because of the jersey 'bulge" in the back, all those Ultimate cards are like that. I bet your surface grade is so low becaue of either microscopic scratches on the cards surface or perhaps even fingerprints. BGS will not dock grades for the 'bulge' on those jersey cards.

I'll have to look closer then. I know they stamp in a foil design around the jersey window. I'd scan it, but with the case, it moves it an 1/8" away from the scanner and is usually a little blurry.
