Thinking of buying these 3

06-07 Artifacts
06-07 UD 1
05-06 Hot prospects

basically going to cost me around $250-280 canadian total. Is it worth rolling the dice and buying them? If I don't find anything I collect I would end up selling them all on ebay, is there a chance of breaking even or should I just keep my money??

First off, it all depends on the price. Hot Prospects can be found for about $50US a box, but does have some damage issues. Many of the boxes have damaged RC's (chipping). Artifacts and UD1 are both decent products, but UD1 lacks the usual RC punch with this years RC crop. My guess is that Artifacts is your best bet if you are looking for "bang for your buck" with the chance of a big hit. Hot prospects would be my second choice, but don't be surprised if you have damage issues. ... my $.02... Mike

Forget UD 1 and just go with Hot Prospects. Great-looking, underappreciated product for a great price.

Michael.

My 2 cent order:

Artifacts
Hot Prospects

UD 1 (Even the auto case hits are brutal, unless you are one lucky SOB)

UD1 isn't any weaker a break than last year's. It just doesn't have the same rookie crop to support it.

I agree and disagree. OK, I am contradicting myself.:p This year has one less Jersey card per box and there are fewer multi-player jersey cards per case. This is somewhat offset by the exclusive parallels and the game-dated inserts, but I still think last years breaks packed a little more punch leaving aside the RC crop. Mike

But the only reason people opened UD 1 last year, was for the Crosby. Well the majority anyway. Although it was a tad more costly than what this years is going for. I would still take my chances elsewhere.

I'd have to agree with Mikey on this one, although his taste in hockey is a bit strange ;)

The Artifacts I saw broken has been mostly decent and the cards are pretty nice. I saw several crappy boxes of UD1 and I personally wouldn't open any unless I was getting a priority signing to go with it..
Hot prospects seemed like decent breaks for the most part also..If I had the cash I'd do Hot Prospects and Artifacts and stay away from UD1

I don't really see how 05-06 UD1 had a better RC crop than 06-07 UD1 does, outside of the Crysby.

Wolski, Lundqvist, Phaneuf, Ward, Perezhogin, Richards, Perry

vs.

Kessel, Stastny, O'Sullivan, Kopitar, Latendresse, Carle, Staal, Thoresen

Yes, the Crosbaby was a lottery ticket, and there really isn't one in 06-07 UD1, but the RC crop as a whole is better in 06-07 UD1 than it was in 05-06.

And that's even leaving out guys like Fehr and Pouliot, who don't have the following, yet, that their talent would warrant.
