Are u related to anyone in the NHL?

This topic is great! Love to hear all the odd connections to players.

My only one is a very distant cousin of Josef Beranek through my mother's side. My great grandfather came to America and the rest of his family stayed in Czechoslovakia. Never did get a chance to meet him.
 
No relations for me either but as this thread has evolved I will throw in my odd connections...

Shane Hnidy and I were both in my sisters wedding - he's close friends with my brother-in-law. I played minor hockey against him a time or two but never knew him until he was starting his NHL career - great guy - bittersweet to see him get to hoist the Cup but very happy for him.

Played minor hockey a lot against Marty Murry - not around anymore but if the strike would have happened 5-10 years earlier a lot more people would have known his name for sure.

Andy Murray - former coach of the Kings and Blues - is a family friend. Had us through the Blues lockerroom a couple years and is an A+ guy.
 
No relations, but my dad played against Joe Nieuwendyk in college

Lee Stempniak's brother was my insurance agent for a short time, and his grandmother goes to my girlfriends church, but I've yet to track down Lee himself lol

Also, one of my friends is related to Travis Zajac

There's not too many of us brown folk in the NHL, so unless Robin Bawa
is some distant relative, I got nobody. The only notable family sports tie I have is in golf.

I have a business association with a gentleman in Arizona who is Robin Bawa's uncle.
 
Ryan Parent is my second cousin. I've never met him, but my family used to visit his mom's family when I was young. My mom had 15 brothers and sisters, so they were spread out all over the country.
 
My Mom dated Greg Polis for years. We lived together for lots of them. I had his Game Used All Star jersey hanging in my room. He was the first player to win the car as an All Star MVP in 1974, I think. He also had a ton of cool trophies, keepsakes, ect. I still see him now and then around town and we talk. Very cool looking back on it now.
 
I asked Taylor at the All-Star Game if he thought we might be related somewhere down the line, his direct quote was, "I doubt it.".

My only sports family tie is that my cousin Jay trained Breeders Cup Classic Winner TizNow.
 
Ray Whitney is my cousins kid. Andrew Ference is my daughter-in-laws cousin. I used to teach Andrew and we are in regular contact with his parents.

Hmmmm... no relations, like a lot of you guys... but...

I used to deer hunt with Steve Beaupre (Don Beaupre's brother)...
I grew up with David Bell, who has been an OHL assistant coach for the last 7 years in Owen Sound and Barrie (now there's a guy who could say he influenced superstars!) - he was just named head coach and GM for the Quad City CHL team...
Todd Hlushko dated my sisters best friend in high school...
My dad worked high iron with Stan Jonathon...
I coached Dale Hawerchuks son Eric just after Dale retired here in Orangeville...

But related? Nah.

My dad's second cousin (I think...I don't know the exact relation, but I know it's no farther than second cousin) is Vijay Singh. I've seen some signed memorabilia and such at another relative's house, but I don't think he and my dad ever hung out or anything as kids because there's a 10 year age gap between the two of them.
 
Possibly related to the new Wild head coach, my mother's maiden name is Yeo.

Only famous people I KNOW, I'm related to are Sir John A. McDonald and Brent Butt.
