Baseball buying help

Looking for some advice on box buying. Boxes that have been released within the last 2-3 years.
I'm not a rookie collector, so that doesn't need to be part of the set at all. I am more into players like Ripken, Gehrig, Ruth, Mantle, Schmidt, Jackson, '80s Giants, etc.

Hi Adrienne, sounds like your interests are like mine, newer issues of Vintage players!!!

Stick with the card issues the last few years like SP Legendary Cuts, Fleer Greats of the Game, UD Hall of Fame, issues like that who stick mainly to those type of players and stay away from today's players and the HGH dudes.....

Are the pulls in those sets you mentioned decent? What are the price ranges for boxes like that?

I purchased a few boxes a year or two ago, (can't remember what brand) nothing notable and mostly pulled rookies I never heard of. I listened to the advice of the card shop owner....obviously steered me in the wrong direction.

Adrienne, the pulls are very much like the pulls from higher end Hockey,,,hit and miss and more misses. The universe is larger on these cards and there is nothing wrong with pulling jerseys/patches cuts of player who played in the 60's on back.....

2006 Legendary Cuts is around $125, some of the others are tins that run $40 to $50 each......Fleer GOTG is probably around $100....Topps Retired Signatures have many player auto's from guys playing in the 80's on back.....I have been pretty sucessful adding cards like these into my PC using ebay and picking out exacly who I like from those era's......
If you have any specific names your looking for let me know and I will see what I may have extra on if any.

Thanks for the advice.
Just looking to buy a box or two from time to time, but will probably stick with buying singles here and there. Will PM you on some stuff when I get a list together this weekend.

Those are good products. I also like the Sweet Spot Classic boxes..they only run about $100 and you get one autograph signature of at least a good player. I've pulled a Dual autograph of Bill Mazeroski/Joe Morgan one time and I've just recently bought a Harmon Killebrew and Mike Schmidt autographs from that set. I love the Sweet Spot autographs..only setback is that sometimes the glove autographs have on all but faded signature on them. You also are supposed to get 2 GU in each box as well. If you're looking for HOFers that might be a route you'd take.
