Beckett Pricing?

How would you say COMC info is on real time pricing, I think they would be most accurate on sales but never looked it up on them?

The issue with Beckett is that it is part of a different sort of collector and not someone that relies on the internet and wifi to enjoy the hobby. The Beckett Price Guide makes it easier when you are conducting a trade since you do not need to look for a place with wifi and all you need to do is open up the magazine and presto.

So you're saying its antiquated?

COMC bases their pricing on what sellers want for their cards. It is rooted in a different reality altogether. A bunch of cards just got listed by them (of one of the players that I collect) which are listed for 100x-200x what they normally sell for on eBay.

Yes you read that correctly....one to two HUNDRED times what they sell for.

COMC has nothing to do with setting the price, the handful of idiots that want 1 arm, 1 leg & 1 left nut for their cards are the problem on there

Now that you said it beckettonline, I did not think of that,
that is good to know. I see from the mags, those are 2 months behind!

All I can say is beckett is getting better! but I am pretty sure it's more and more base on ebay. Very good example is that the Crosby YG is now at 850.00 in Beckett online. McDavid is at 350.00 and Matthews at 250.00.

I think ebay is a good reference for the cards recently sold. Why would you sell a Crosby for less than 800.00 as we speak? go put it on ebay and get the big bucks.

I don't know if Beckett uses it or not, but they have a feature in their "My Organize" program that allows the collector to add in the price paid for cards. I have been adding this information for years.

FWIW, I was at the card show a month ago and asked about the price of a very nice Shutt rookie card. Seller checked his "book" (not Beckett) and showed me a ridiculously low value - 20ish. I asked him if he would take $40 and we both walked away happy.
