Bertuzzi to Detroit????

Might be a tough too pull off for the 'Wings.. Seein' as they don't have much in the way of cap room.

Although, I do see where if this were to occur... That it might improve the rivalry just a bit? ;)

they have lots of room, they can defer chelios and hasek's bonuses to next year giving them another 1.4 mill in cap room

Detroit hardly has lots of cap room. remember the stink they had trying to re-sign Datsyuk & Zetterberg?

Add those up and their around $43 million. I know they can push the bonuses over to next seaosn but not sure how many teams want to do that. Thats definitely an option though
 
If Detroit manages this it will be due to a magician with a calculator. They really don't have a lot of cap space to work with.

maybe not enough room for bertuzzi but if they defer the bonuses they have room for a certain Mr. Forsberg
 
Actually they are fine cap wise as if they go after a UFA they only have to pay his salary for the remainder of the season. What is that 20 games after the deadline?? If that's the case they can go after a UFA that makes 5 mill a year as they will only pay him a little over 1 mill against the cap.
At least that's how I understood it!
 
Rivalry? What rivalry? Rivalry implies a contest among equals. Don't know if you've noticed or not, but the Avs couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat they're so awful this year. They're currently 8 points out of a wildcard spot. And a full twenty behind the leader in the West.

There's no rivalry here. There's a grudge, which is different.

Gotta agree Q, rivalry does mean a competitive match which it hasn't been lately. All I was saying is it may make the game's more interesting fan wise..:)

Off the top of my head:

Bertuzzi's salary is 5.7 million

Forsbergs is 5.25 million.

Not THAT much of a difference.

And yes, they will only have to pay the remainder of the salary so if traded for at the deadline they will be about 1.5-1.75 million.

The Wings would have to be friggin' nuts to pick up Bert. He's a discipline problem. He was nuts as a junior, nuts as an Isle, and violently nuts as a Canuck. The Wings don't need that.

Only reason I would be for it is to police the area for Zetty and Datsyuk. They are getting thrown around alot lately and the Wings basically sit there and take it instead of sending a big body in there to handle the situation. Not my first choice but I would go along with it if he came at a low price. (Draft picks mainly)

Yeah, poor guy that Zetty, only 26 points in his last 13 games including 4 last night against my beloved Flames. I feel for him. :rolleyes:

Did you watch the game Ryan? Stuart laid a nice 2 handed cross check to Zetterberg's back midway through the game and we had the tough guy Lilja sticking up for him! If they had an intimidator like Bert would Stuart have done it?!?!?
