Alright, the photo drops have started, so it's time to share some of my favorites.
ITG/BAP:
1999-00 BAP Memorabilia American Hobby/Canadian Hobby/Retail autos
I have a few signatures from this set. Still looking for the Mickey Redmond if anyone knows of where I could find one. Love the vintage feel and photography of the set, especially this John Ferguson Sr.
2001-02 BAP Parkhurst Autos
I pulled the Cournoyer out of a random pack from a dump bin at a comic book store when I was a pre-teen. Definitely one of those cards that sparked my curiosity and expanded my love of the game. I will never have all of the cards from this set (mostly thanks to the set containing numerous Mr. Hockey's that all run very expensive) but I never hesitate to add a new one to the collection if the price is right.
2003-04 Parkhurst Original Six Autos
This set is just gorgeous. I have a few from it, though not nearly as many as I would like. This Flaman and an Eddie Litzenberger are my favorites. I am also desperately looking for the Ken Wharram, if anyone is willing to part with him.
2004-05 ITG Franchises
What a treasure the three Franchise sets are. I'm sure many here can share rarer or more prodigious signatures, but my appreciation for these sets comes from all of the first-time signees in the checklist, many of whom only have pack-issued autos in these sets. My father's favorite player, Don Luce, has his only certified auto here. Only ever busted one box myself and pulled a Mike Bossy jersey auto numbered out of /10.
2010-11 ITG Enshrined
Another clean set from In The Game. I have 18 in my collection and many of them can be had for unreasonably cheap prices.
Fleer:
2001-02 Fleer Greats of the Game
My dingy lighting and phone camera do not do this set justice. Would love to complete this set someday - I'm sitting at about 65, though most of those I am missing are the generally over-priced SPs.
2002-03 Fleer Throwbacks
This was a fun product to bust in general. Pulled this Bobby Clarke and a Dave Brown auto many moons ago out two Throwbacks retail boxes at a K-Mart.
Topps/O-Pee-Chee:
Topps Heritage
00-01, 01-02, and 02-03 Topps Heritage autos. They mimic 54-55 Topps, 57-58 Topps, and 66-67 Topps, respectively. I have the 00-01 and 01-02 sets completed.
Topps/OPC Hockey and Archives
The Sittler and McNab are from the amazing 01-02 Topps Archives set. A great product that I cannot recommend enough if you ever get the chance to find a sealed hobby box. The Sittler was the first autograph I ever pulled once I started busting packs with my dad. I'm close to completion on this set, but there is a ton of competition for the SPs when they show up at auction.
The Sather is a Rookie Reprint Auto from 02-03 Topps/O-Pee-Chee. After nearly two decades of searching, the Sather and the Keith Magnuson autos from this set turned up on auction at very affordable prices with the past year and a half. Two of my favorites in my collection now.
Panini:
2011-12 Panini Certified Throwback Threads
Panini released a few Throwback Threads auto sets in their Certified products. This Quenneville is my favorite.
Panini Crown Royale Voices of the Game
As someone who collects pack-issued or company-certified HOF autographs, these sets have been a huge boon for collecting official autographs of various Foster Hewitt Memorial Award winners. The 2010-11 set is the one I like the most and features the pictured Jeanneret, Bob Miller, Mike Lange, and Joe Bowen, amongst others.
2012-13 Panini Classics Signatures
I think this set got a bit of a bad rap when it first released because it was a tad overpriced for many. Frankly, I never opened a bad box of it. Hard signed autos, beautiful photography, an interesting group of subset autos, one signature per pack and one subset auto per box, etc. I'll never own the entire set because of SSPs but I have gladly grabbed up about 120ish of the base auto set. I left out pictures from many of the autographed subsets, but these triple combos came out of boxes I opened, as well as the SSP Ron Francis (I love that my Sabres and Ted Nolan are visible in the background). Great product - I miss other companies having the NHL license.
Upper Deck:
Epic Signatures
These three auto sets are some of my all-time favs. Completing them was a passion project that I was able to finish about three years ago.
2004-05 Legendary Signatures
Another product that I loved opening and cannot recommend enough if you can get your hands on a box now. Having a hard-signed triple auto of the French Connection is a dream as a Sabres fan - it might be my favorite card in my collection.
2004-05 Legends Classics
Stunning set. I love the style of the base autos. Pulled the dual Mr. Hockey/Golden Jet out of a box last summer. Fun product that features three autos (one is usually a subset auto), at least one numbered base card, and a felt banner. Between Legendary Signatures, Legends Classics, and the ITG Franchise products, 2004-05 was an incredible year for legend and retro autographs.
2005-06 UD Trilogy Personal Scripts, Legendary Scripts, and Ice Scripts
Not much to say here outside of: damn, Trilogy used to be such a fun product to break every year.
2006-07 UD Parkhurst
Awesome checklist (featuring guys like Tom Johnson, Edgar Laprade, Clint Smith, Marcel Pronovost, and Allen Stanley - players who don't have a lot of certified autos), as well as a clean design with strong photography. The Captain and Enforcers auto sets are also superb.
Upper Deck Ultimate Legends
These are based on the 1997 Legends Football autographs and have been a subset included in Ultimate Collection for a number of recurring years. Sometimes, I think the pictures are a little too busy and the ink (for when they use silver or gold) get lost, but they look very nice when everything clicks.
Extra:
1991-92 Future Trends '72 Canada
I think most here are familiar with this set and the fingerprint swirl autos. Ken Dryden's loan certified auto comes from this set. The fingerprint finish and deep golden ink look so nice in person.
Anyway, sorry for the huge post, but I absolutely love this topic!
