Was hoping to have this ready earlier but it took longer than I thought to do a complete rewrite of script that runs it. And actually the rewriting is not yet finished. But the important part, the sign up, is ready to go.

NHL Playoff Hockey Draft

Some Background:

I've been doing this for a number of years now, decided this year that I'd finally do some upgrading to it to make it easier on me for future drafts. It's pretty much just your basic pick players from a group draft but I've divided the groups into top seed team players and bottom seed players. Each group contains players from two east teams, and two west teams, with one team having two players. The setup forces you to take players from at least 3 teams in each seed level. Besides the groups you also get to pick the Cup finalists. In the past I've used this as a tiebreak, but it's pretty much just to see if you can get it right. Many of the years no one has got it right, last time one person got it.

Some Notes:

Like I said complete rewrite, so there is a high probability of errors. Right now sign up seems to be working exactly how it should so that's a good sign. The biggest addition to the draft is the User Account creation, but as of right now logging in isn't overly useful. (You do have to log in if you want to sign up a second team.) If anyone does run into problems post here or email me from the site.

Sign Up info:

For Hobby Insider I've already created a Division. Highlight the radio button beside 'select division' and then choose Hobby Insider from the list. The password for the division is: hi

As of right now there are all of 10 teams signed up, but like I said I'm late :o But I've always left sign up open for the first two days of the playoffs and this year will be the same, and may be extended longer.

Well I'm in so everyone else can just give up now :) Its funny, I think of myself as a GREAT hockey mind yet I never seem to win!
(realized how conceited that could sound, don't worry, it is sarcasm :) )

I'm in. I've been participating in these from the start, eventually I'll win one. You had a couple of good years where you got a lot of entries. Hopefully enough people enter to make it entertaining.

The Red River Flood will take this.

Your best finish was 7th the first year.

1999 had 26
2000 had 32
2001 had 52
2002 had 123
2003 had 150
2004 had 162

I have a feeling the upward trend will be done in by my late release of the signup.

OK Standings are now up, as are the Stats. But I have not yet created the Division Standings, or the ability to click on a team name to see who they picked. Might still get that done today, but looking more like Tuesday since I'll be gone most of tomorrow.

Division Standings are now setup. Stats are being updated bi-daily so the next update will be after tonights games.

Sorry for the delay, been a busy week. As it turns out I'm in first, but NJ and Ottawa are done for now so won't be getting more from them until next round.

Noel,

Site looks awesome!! Did you code the sign-up forms and all that?

Also, do you enter in the stats manually, or do you have an automated way of doing?

Thanks,
Jordan

Yes I coded the sign up form, and next year setting it up again will be a breeze. :) For this draft I am entering stats manually, if I run a regular season draft I'm going to look into an automated system, just don't have the time for manual updates anymore, but the playoffs gets real easy after round 1.

Standings After Round 3

Actually pretty close between Bossy22 and mtroads. 3 points apart, 3 players left. The rest of us are not even close.

Of course no one is even close to my other team, which still has 6 players left and a 14 point lead. This really is the perfect Cup for me, other than it not being the Whalers.

Funny... nobody had either team going to the Stanley Cup Finals. And I was the only person who picked a team that made it as far as the Conference Finals (Buffalo).

By the way... I'm VERY curious how many people submitted their team AFTER the playoffs began since you left the registration open.

About 1/2 the entries. When I closed sign up Carolina was down 2-0 so I guess that might have made it better for the people who signed up early.

Final Standings

Bossy22 145
Red River Flood2 143 (mtroads)

Close finish.

Thanks everyone who entered, who knows I might try and get something going for the regular season, we'll have to see if I have the time.

Dude... I don't even get an honorable mention for 3rd place. :p

Thanks Noel. :)
