So I’m curious..what does everyone here think.. do they finish the season with no spectators, do they call the season and start over... or do you really care one way or the other.... cheers!!! Paul!

I think they should just call it and start new in September but I guess it’s all about the dollar so whatever gets them the money will win out, usually the tv contract wins out, lol

I don't really care either way. If the season were to resume, safety of everyone involved should be the number 1 priority.

I think this season should be forgotten, and they should focus on how next year might look. Even if they start on time in October, things will have changed dramatically and I can't imagine a crowd of 15,000 people assembling for sports six months from now.

I know they're chasing the dollars, but they need to take time and make sure any return is done safely. I can't see that happening in time to salvage the current season.

so many things to figure out, will be a miracle in my opinion if they can make something work.

insurance for the players. This is always a big issue with the Olympics, etc, thinking this would be a huge issue here as well.

Would the players be quarantined during this? Would the players/NHLPA allow that?

And this is all assuming they get the go ahead from the CDC/local governments.

I am all for finishing the season with no crowd...playoffs no crowd. I hate to see teams, especially my own, just forfeit the season when they were playoff bound.

With that said, safety is paramount.
if a cure to the virus was already approved and being distributed next week for people to start poking themselves with a needle to make themselves immune, then I might be open to a playoff crowd.

As it stands right now, everyone is at risk. So no deal.

Cancel hockey, but hopefully get baseball up and running with no fans. Then we have something to bridge the summer months in case things get worse again or remain the same, and we can't have any other sports for a long time, namely with spectators.

Cancel it. The safety of people far outweighs the money but I guess that depends on who's talking

For the love of god just cancel the crap already. Makes no sense how we could possibly still have a season. We're nowhere near being ready to start, plus any abbreviated regular season or playoffs would just be garbage. Not to mention how would free agency work and next season if the this season got fired up and went into fall lol

I'm not sure why there would be a strong push to make a decision now, like some post they should.

Do I think this season is going to resume? No I don't. Do I think it could? Yeah, I suppose.

The NHL should be planning different scenarios for different timelines. Can they start in July? September? January? Nobody knows right now.

I would assume that if they're going to find a way to play any more regular season games, or have some kind of "full" (but modified?) playoffs - they need to start in July, unless they're okay with cutting into next season.

I'd also assume that if we do see hockey (sports) this year, it will be in closed stadiums.

Information is changing by the day. While a vaccine this month or next is unlikely, the chances of it are not zero.

I'm sure there is some drop-dead date, where the NHL (or NBA, MLB, etc) will have to write off the season.... they'll simply run out of time to resume. That date hasn't come yet, so why cancel anything?

Do I think hockey (or sports, in general) is the most important thing in the world? Of course not. Not even close. Do I think anyone should be stressing out over the the question if a 2020 Stanley Cup will be handed out? Again, no. It doesn't really matter.

But the NHL... like so many other businesses that have closed their doors... needs to be planning for how they will eventually reopen, and they will eventually reopen. When that happens & what form it is... nobody knows yet. You can be sure we have NOT come to a drop dead date for the 2020 Cup yet, and I'm sure we'll all know when that date comes.

If you're like me, and don't think the 2020 season will be played out in any form... no Stanley Cup is going to be handed out.... what difference does it make if they announced that a week ago, today, or June 15th ?

I voted based on the wording. I want them to finish the season.

Does that mean they SHOULD finish the season? Not necessarily. If it was deemed "safe" to finish the season with empty arenas- I'd be all for that.

The most interesting "plan" I heard was that the playoffs finish in September, October is the off season and 20-21 starts in November with a full schedule. I honestly wouldn't mind that except that my birthday would then be in the off season.

What I haven't heard anyone mention or discuss is potential ice conditions. The NHL already struggles with ice conditions during a normal season when the Cup Finals go into June. Do you really want to see playoffs even later into the summer with soft/slow ice and bouncy ball pucks?

I don't remember where but Bill Dailey was interviewed and asked if playing NHL games in the summer was an issue because of the weather and ice conditions and he said it was not and games could be played in july/august if need be.

i think they should have all the NHL Coaches play a round robin of EA NHL 2020 representing their own team to determine the Stanley Cup Champions. That would be more exciting than watching a game with no spectators.

LOL that is awesome! They should do this regardless of how they complete the season.

This would be absolutely Awesome to watch...

While i voted for "l want them to finish the season" I wont be disappointed if they don't. If it could be done in a safe manner perhaps do it. Ido think there will be an * attached to the winner for all time though. I hope the new season can start on schedule (I mean on time if season is officially canceled or on a new schedule if they play) with fans.... That is if a 2nd wave is at least contained to a f___t in the wind.
