Bettman is just a puppet for the owners. The reason why someone as incompetent as him (according to fans) is and has been in charge for so long is because the owners actually LIKE what he's doing.

Bettman doesn't own the NHL, the owners hired him to push their mandate.

Blame the owners.

I would like to see them borrow a few things from the NBA: the amnesty clause and a hard cap on the max number of years on contracts (I believe the NBA's is six).

Seems like they're making strides and I feel pretty good that they'll get things worked out before 9/15.

If the NHL has another lockout. I will be finding a new league to watch and a new hobby to pursue. Please please please don't let greed shut the NHL down again.

It's called the CHL or NCAA and the kids actually play there hearts out every night because they aren't being compensated, and if they are it ain't much just kids playing a game they love with the hope of making it a full time job

Ultimately,these clowns have to realize that the only
ones not making money in all of this is we the fans.
Not that either side really care cuz unless people just
don't go to games,they can strike or lockout whenever.
And we know the "FANS" will be there in the end so...

The NHLPA's proposal is bunk too. If I'm a wealthy and profitable owner it's because I've done the right things on and off the ice to be successful. It's not my problem another team can't make it work so don't come and ask me for what will likely be millions of dollars to keep them afloat.

All that does is throw good money after bad and I wouldn't even begin to think about it much less go along with it.
