Thanks, but I cant understand why a McDavid yg PSA 10 sells for 350-400 and and BGS 9.5 sells for 200
Well there is a perception that BGS changed their grading standards so there are a lot more 9.5 then before and same with 10's although BGS 10 Black Label still are very tough to get as i believe two graders have to agree before it receives a BGS 10 Black label.
I was bored and typed into google BGS Vs PSA and read many pages regarding the two companies and their standards/practices regarding grading. From what i could gather from lowest to highest for modern cards BGS 9.5/PSA10/BGS10.
This is what i gathered not just from Hockey cards but baseball and Pokemon as well.Feel free to correct me if i am wrong.
For vintage i would stick to PSA or SGC and for modern cards BGS.
BGS may be the biggest but they have their faults such as grading laser cut cards from uncut sheets where as PSA would not.
KSA and any other of the fringe graders i would
NEVER touch for myself but seeing how many cards i see graded by them their prices must be good.
None of these companies are perfect as you can find examples for suspicious/fraudulent/dubious grading.
Sure grading can add value to your cards if they get a vary good grade but also reduce their value if they do not.
The best thing about graded cards is how well protected they will be after that it depends on you.
I have a mix of graded mostly BGS since they will grade an autograph and they are modern cards.
Here is one of my favorite graded cards.Checking the population report so far the only BGS 10 Drouin Ice rookie. There have been 39 graded so far.I still have a couple of ungraded copies of this card.Interesting sideline to this card as shortly after i purchased it from ebay the seller messaged me back wishing to purchase the card back. The only time i have ever had a seller looking to buy a card back from me
