Hey guys,

So the Big One is approaching on October 16th-17th, and I figured I'd run through the ideas with you guys as to what the night's festivities would be after the show.

UFC 120 is that Saturday night in which Gordon-favorite Yoshihiro Akiyama and my brother from another, much uglier, lankier French mother Cyrille Diabate are fighting...so our butts will be parked in front of some TV that night.

The question is where the TV will be and I'm opening discussions as to where said butt parking should take place? What are peoples' personal needs (ie. public transit, etc.)

If nobody cares, I'm gonna throw out the Mountain Shadow Pub in Burnaby...the unofficial public UFC gathering of the 12 Buck Mafia. We could easily get our own area full of TVs (and I assume we can make reservations since they haven't opposed in the past,) and it won't be that busy...and the alcohol is fairly cheap given that it's basically a campus pub. Only thing is...it's not along a Skytrain line and its closer to SFU than suburban Burnaby.

Any other ideas?

I like the Shadow - that works for me. If a good 50% of the contigent wants to watch the UFC, that's cool beats watching the skirmish of Alberta. I should be able to drive people around if need be.

Is there any confirmed (or expected) out of towners coming in that may need rides?

None that I know of at this point. They usually all bring their own methods of transport, though if they will be partaking so to speak, they may need a designated driver :D

Let's bump this since we're closer to the date. I'd like to make a reservation next week-ish. I'm assuming the event starts at 7 PM at this point since there's no Spike prelims.

So far I've got upwards of 9 people attending, but that's just our usual gang (Me, Gordon + Amanda, Jon, Derek, Adam + Setha, JZ) and probably my buddy Cam. Kev, are you joining us? Anybody else?

I'm not a fan of UFC, so will either partake in another night at the Kingston or something else with those other HIers who aren't UFC watchers.

Aw come on Bruce...you guys can all come to Mountain Shadow and I'm sure they can flip your guys TV to Hockey Night in Canada or something. Chances are we'll be the biggest UFC contingency in the place since the event is on Spike, so people can watch it at home without feeling like they have to come to the pub since it's a Pay Per View.

Besides which, we might not share similar interests on the TV that night, but we share the common interest getting served up on tap
