A couple of weeks back I made a major decision that would shake the foundations of my collecting hobby. I had come to a point where my want lists were so numerous, extensive and divergent that the only kick I got out of collecting was one in the groin. Something had to change, I knew that I had to bring back the joy somehow. I came to the easiest and most natural possible conclusion, which for reasons unknown had eluded me for months: I have to pursue cards I really want and them only. This meant ditching all of my sets (probably 15 or more including one auto and several SP'd sets), four player collections (Selanne, Turgeon, Kurri and Aki Berg) and a team collection (Winnipeg Jets).
The only collecting targets I didn't let go of were my primaries Pavel Bure and Sean Bergenheim; and my two grinding heroes Esa Tikkanen and John Tucker.
But somehow I wasn't satisfied with that...something was missing. No sets and no teams meant small possibilities for finding stuff I need from fellow collectors...so why not collect cards of my all-time favourite team? As I, joyfully, did in my teens?
The choice was easy, and the vast amount of cards that have been and will be produced of the many stars wearing the black/yellow/white jersey didn't scare me off - no, it spurred me all the more to collecting 'em as that meant I could find great cards I need from, if not any, most collectors. And as trading is such an essential thing for me in collecting, I...well, I didn't do the happy dance as I hate dancing
, but I felt enormously satisfied and relieved to have found my path through the hobby jungle.
For the last two weeks, birds have been fl...walking in a freaky way into my mailbox and here are some of the results. I'm not in the mood to scan all 700+ cards that are new to the PC, but behold below some of the better ones:
PICS 1 - 5: Various inserts, parallels and RC's
PIC 6: Some Sids
PIC 7: GU's (love the Hedberg patch!), coins and a couple of nicer Lemieux inserts
PIC 8: Autos (pretty good for birdfeet scrawlings, aye?)
PIC 9: Stuffo niceo, I couldn't help but laugh the first time I heard of a game-used board card
PIC 10: My favourite card of the up-and-coming Penguins PC, Fleury Puck Auto RC /299!
An OK start, several hundred still incoming and millions needed
But this is pretty much what kept me in the hobby...it just feels right to hoard stacks of Pens
I'll round out the post with some recent mail to my other PC's:

Thanks to Reborn, HIFK_Heart, Vanek26, norstrom, Apelardo, several eBay and Tradera sellers and a huge thanks to jaj79 for an equally huge lot of Penguins! And of course to all who had the patience to read this far
Cheers!
