Blue Jackets-Peca suspended indefinitely

According to TSN's website he grabbed a ref by the arm and then apparently hit a linesman with his stick while slamming it against the boards.

Bumping or hitting the ref is a classless move. I had high hopes for Peca when he was a young up and comer with the Canucks. When he left in the Mogilny trade to go to Buffalo he lived up to all his potential and was an impact player in the league. It seems though, over the last few years, his ability to make that impact has diminished, if not disappeared completely. Certainly with things like this happening, his career seems destined to continue its spiral......:badmood:

The ref's are there to do a thankless job that they only get grief for.... no matter what call they make someone is unhappy with it. If Peca can't control himself and act like an adult then he should hang up his skates and move along.

Watch the brutal Morrow slewfoot at about 1:08 or so and within 15-20 seconds is Peca grabbing the referee:

Then watch this one from a bit ago and everyone here can talk about how classy Sundin is and explain to me why he too wasnt suspended indefinitely. Of course, he is everyone's hero and always acts like an "adult".

I've been in situations where you are working your guts out, and someone does something cheap and gets rewarded with a goal.

It is easy to sit at your computer and say how a player should act on the ice, it's another thing to be out there and be in the heat of the battle.

I am not saying refs ever deserve to be shoved or touched, but Peca was slew-footed (the dirtiest play in the game, in my opinion) and it resulted in a goal, and there was no call. Total BS. I'm no Peca fan, and I think the world of Brendan Morrow. I just call it as I see it.

In the Sundin video, that linesman was only asking for trouble skating in front of a player in an aggressive manner. Yes, a player cannot push a linesman, but there is also a code of conduct for officials, too, and in my opinion, the linesman had no business getting in Sundin's face like that, as he was leaving the scrum, not engaging in it.

Looks like a bunch of over-reacting, behind-a-computer message board pundit junk to me. Anyone want to take Peca's side? You know, for equality's sake? I haven't seen anyone (here or elsewhere) produce a good quality video of the incident, so it's hard to say either way, but the insinuations that he's a washup who should retire based on one side of the story are pretty humorous.

Won't argue who was in the right or wrong in the second video, but my only point in posting it was a good replay of a generally beloved player doesnt get the backlash that a no/video/poor video of a guy like Peca does. And to me thats simply befuddling.

While I have really no idea what happened in this instance - the fact that Peca is out killing a 5-3 penalty tells me he's still got some gas in the tank. While I will agree that he is overpaid and has never quite panned out offensively, he's a damn good hockey player and will have a spot in the game for the next couple of years for sure.

That being said - there is no excuse for grabbing/hitting an official - certainly we have all probably wanted to at one time or another but thats over the line and a suspension is deserved - to what degree, I have no idea.

Peca is now the Pacman Jones of the NHL. ahahaha both are suspended indefinitely from their league.

Not even close... one for an one time on ice issue... the other for a series of off field issues that he says he has learned from but he continues to have the off field issues... how one can relate the two... i have no Idea.....

It's simple. Both have been suspended from their leagues indefinitely. Both were highly touted coming into the league. And there's aliteration you know... Peca, Pacman. AND their teams won't miss them that much anyway. :D

While your initial attempts to be clever may fall on deaf ears, I would wager by your final assertion that you really don't know much about Peca or the Blue Jackets.

or Pacman and Dallas. Due to other players being injured Pacman was really the last good guy in their secondary. Which was part of the reason the cowboys didn't suspend him themselves. I thought your first post was just a joke and the original person responding needed to not take it so seriosuly but now that you try to back it up it is kind of weak.

Peca was not highly touted comming into this season and Peca is a defensive specialist and their defense isn't that good, so I'd say they probably will miss him.

So to compare the 2, you have the aliteration and suspension. I guess you can compare them just not that well. 2 completely different sports, players and situations.

I see we got some Peca fans? But clearly not a very well educated one. Columbus' best season was before Peca joined the team. AND they still beat Dallas after he was kicked out.

As for Pacman, wasn't much good against Arizona. So I guess I'd be even more worried at who else is on the depth chart.

I understand everyone's passionate opinions though. I'd be offended too if someone was making fun of a player I liked. It's all jokes though, we all know that Peca will make it back to the NHL. Dunno about Pacman though...

Do we have an ignore feature here? I've never looked for it before but I have a candidate now and could use it.

I'll save the Venn diagrams and logic for some other day, and just mention that Pittsburgh's best season was before Crosby joined the team, and they still won games while he was out injured.

This is turning into something that I don't really want to be associated with..... :o
