Hello all,
Who's autograph and memorabilia cards are worth more now and long term? The Rocket has been dead for a long time now so he's obviously not signing any more. Do you think the longer he's dead the higher his cards will go up?Bobby Orr is still alive and kickin but doesn't sign much. What do you guys think?
Thanks
Casey

I think Orr will always hold higher value. Richard was a tremendous talent and a true legend of the game but I believe that Bobby Orr redefined the game.

Richard was a great forward and high profile player for one of the league's greatest franchises. Then again so was Orr, the difference being he played defense, he broke the mold there that offense could not come as a second wave from the blueline. He literally changed the game in that regard.

Also offensive defrenseman were an anomoly before Orr. Scoring forwards as great as Richard, while few, were much more plentiful. It is why a player like Phaneuf can make his own mark in a year when Crosby and Ovechkin were rookies.

The ratios for superstar forwards to truly great defenseman is about 25 to one I would say.

just my 2 cents.......

In 20 years their will probably be over 1000 different autographed Sidney Crosby cards... that can't be said for Orr or Richard.

IMO Orr and Richard stuff is excellent stuff to grab on to. They just won't be making any more. Orr hasn't signed since 03-04 and rumour has it he won't again.

Go with the Richard. To my knowledge ITG has the only game used memorabilia where ITG and Upper Deck have Orr memorabilia that they have used in their past for product. I'm kinda partial to Richard myself ;) . -Mike

Between you, me and everyone else, you can't go wrong with either. Maurice Richard has sadly passed away and what's out there is what is out there, but as far as Bobby Orr goes, I have it on good authority that Orr will not sign, and has in fact priced himself high enough where he is simply not asked anymore (not out of greed, but to be left alone). With Orr, it may also be a simple case of what is out there is what's out there.

I personally have the UD Retro INKredible Maurice Richard auto and the 02/03 UD Foundations Bobby Orr auto /48, and I doubt there is a good enough deal out there to get either from me.

I'd say Rocket. Though you couldn't go wrong with Orr either. Only difference being Orr is still alive. Most people would have died to have a Howe or Gretz auto now they are a dime a dozen (though still coveted). You never know if Orr may need the money down the road and do a ton of cards for UD. With Rocket you don't have that option.

Bobby Orr is more expensive right now.

They don't sign anymore, and for many people, pieces of both guys are centerpieces in their collection.

The market will dry on autos of these guys.
I was lucky enough to pull a Richard auto, and I will make most of my collection available before that one card.
