Boogaard cards through the roof!?

I know he just died but, I put in a $2 bid on this card last night arround 9pm EST

$23 with 2 days left!? I know he died but will it be like other players like MLB Angles Pithcer Nick Adenhart who passed and you can now buy his auto from $5-$10. I dont understand this at all.....

This is pretty typical for the days after a player's death. This one was actually still available when I first checked last night right after the news broke. I don't speculate on cards of deceased players, so I didn't buy it (I think it's sort of a nefarious practice) -- but if someone just happened to already have the card listed, you certainly can't blame the seller for that!

So, my word of advice to anyone looking to pick up a Boogaard autograph as a keepsake -- wait a bit.

I snagged that one. I wanted one for my collection before they all got listed for stupid prices.

Don't really see the point in starting a thread about this outta respect for the man's death. Either A. People are bidding on it because they were a true fan or B. The D-Bag thinks they can capitalize on this tragedy and possibly flip it for a profit, don't think much more needs to be discussed IMO.

Most people are in this hobby (at least the people on ebay) are in it for business. This should come as no surprise to anyone. When someone dies they're hobby interest sky rockets, thats how it will always be.

I am doing the 06/07 Parkhurst Auto set and the same thing happened with Bob Probert. It took me awhile to get the auto I needed, but I waited and got it at a great deal after the tragic event took place. I cannot blame the business people for doing what they're doing. Afterall it is their livelihood, but I'm a true collector who is happy to have the auto of this Famous Enforcer in my possession--never to leave my collection. I've never been a big Boogard fan and will not purchase any of his cards, but the event itself scares me and my feelings are with his family/friends/teammates.

Funnily enough there are still a couple of common 05/06 Derek Boogaard cards I need, I'm staying well away for no because I don't agree with trying to make a few extra dollars off the back of a tragic incident, but people are willing to pay so, I suppose, thats just the way of the world.

Hopefully all the fake autos on common cards don't hit the Bay like they did (and are still there) when Bob Probert died last year. Those sellers need to be strung up and showered with extra sharp ProSet cards.
