Boyes gets traded to St Louis for Denis Wideman. Another Double B (Bochenski) pretty much made Boyes expendable.
 
Honestly, this one hurts. I think they are giving up WAY too early on Boyes. For a guy who scored 69 points his rookie year and was just starting to produce again they could have received a lot more in return. Stempniak, McClement, Woywitka?
How good is this Widman guy? They really needed scoring not another d-man that can't play.
My two cents....as you can see I am disappointed in the managament....again!
 
Nathan I don't think the deal will hurt them,Boyes wasn't the same player as last year & a new face hopefully will help with the Wins they need NOW.Dennis Wideman is a powerplay specialist as I have been told ,he is good with the puck. Time will tell. :)
 
Oh well, you are probably right.
I hope Boysie does well.
Listing his cards on ebay right now though.....don;t need to collect him if he no longer wears the spoked B!
 
As his (self-proclaimed) number one fan...i'm sad to see him leave a somewhat contender....but i know he'll get more time on the ice in a Blues Uni...

he's had a tough season playing with multiple linemates and getting only spot time on the powerplay....but hopefully he can pull it together in St. Louis....
 
Another moronic move by the B's management. Gotta be hard on the poor guys confidence to have so many teams view him as expendable in such a short period of time....

Wideman is an offensive d-man. He's great joining the rush and has a bomb from the point. But, he's not so great defensively in his own end. There are rumors swirling that the Bruins might try to convert him to play wing since he is so offensive minded and below-average defensively, especially since the Bruins already have 6 D.
 
Looks like Boyes will change uni numbers too...Cajanek currently has numero 26.

His past numbers include 13,14,16, and 24.
The Blues however have retired 16 (Hull) and 24 (Federko)

So what the heck was the point in trading a forward for him! lol Comon, think of it... thats a ridiculous move.

You trade a proven forward (albeit it struggling) for a defenceman and want to turn him into a forward. Unreal. Maybe the Leafs should trade Kaberle for Tanguay and turn him into a d-man.

Just stating the rumors. I hate the trade as much as the next Bruins fan.
 
Wideman was a pretty decent prospect in the Blues system. He plays a lot on the power play and has a pretty big shot. He fell out of favor with Andy Murray ever since he took over. Murray said he was too irresponsible with the puck in his own end. Also, he has such a big shot that when he misses the net (which is quite often), the Blues end up back on defense pretty quick. Murray called them "defensive shots"
