Bruins "score" with #2 draft pick!

The Boston Bruins sure placed well in the NHL "lottery" last evening (shown live on VS here in the states). Dubbed as "1a and 1b", the two top choices are Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin. As we all know by now, Edmonton has won the first selection and whichever player remains will/should be selected by the Bruins.

However, rumors are flying today around Boston about the Bruins intent on landing Taylor Hall. [Taylor is a life-long Bruins fan and idolizes Bobby Orr (he also wears #4 on his uniform). It would seem that Hall might be a "better fit" coming to Boston than Seguin.] In any event, one rumor has Patrice Bergeron and Boston's #2 draft pick offered to Edmonton for their #1 draft pick. This would assure the Bruins get the player of their choice (Hall) and Edmonton would get Tyler Seguin (AND Bergeron).

I hope the rumors prove to be false. I would hate to see Patrice somewhere else. Given the quality of both Taylor and Seguin, I would take either in a heartbeat!

No matter what takes place between now and late June's actual draft, the Bruins will surely be building a new era down in Beantown! Most of the top draft choices over the past 8 to 10 years have become NHL superstars (Crosby, Ovechkin, M A Fleury, Stamkos, Nash, Price, Kane, to name a few). This draft choice should be no different.

Although it's tough to tag a highly anticipated junior hockey player with the "franchise" label, with these two future superstars, it hard NOT to! It'll be easy for both of these 40+ goal scorers to adapt to the NHL.

I can assure you that Boston is abuzz today.... kind of reminds me of the time of anticipation leading up to Mr. Orr's arrival! Go Boston!

I thought Taylor Hall was a Flames fan? Either way, like you said, they probably shouldn't trade if it costs patrice to move up one spot. both guys should be solid

Edmonton would make out very well if they were able to slide back one spot and receive a player of Bergeron's caliber in return. This would hinge on them not having a clear cut favorite for the position. If they grade the two out similarly, and frankly almost every position on the team is a need, then this would be a huge win.

I sincerely doubt Boston would be that charitable though.

With the stable of young centers in Boston and playing for the Baby B’s (Hamill, Colborne, Arniel)—Taylor Hall would be a better fit for the Bruins. He wants to be a Bruin, idolizes Bobby Orr (no better Bruin or PERSON to model yourself after) and would look great filling the wing at the Gah’den wearing #94…

More than one blogger suggested his dream of one day being a Bruin. Hey, if it was blogged, it has to be true! Right? (LOL)

Actually neither one is considered a franchise player. However, they are both considered to be very solid prospects. Btw i hope we never trade with you guys again. First we give up rask for nothing and now this deal. But i do love that kessel now has 96 regular season goals and i cant wait until he gets stronger and has a full training camp.

That would explain the #4. However I remember him saying that he was a Flames fan because he was born there. People were joking with him what he would do if he was drafted by the Oilers too. Either way, as a Habs fan, I hope the Bruins overpay for the first round pick. If I was a Bruins fan though, doesn't seem worth it.

I am not sure what Boston would be thinking.. Not only would u be giving up the #2 pick and Bergeron but factor in Kessel as well.. that would make no sense. I am sure that there is something else that could be done

It wouldn't make sense for the Bruins to do that. Not at all. As an Oiler fan, I would probably be okay with that deal, but would want the B's to take back Nillson or O'Sullivan to even out the money.

Hall said on TSN that he grew up watching the Flames. He mentioned Bobby Orr when asked a direct question about what it would be like to be a Bruin. He also openly has said that he would love to be an Oiler. Take that for what its worth.

Seguin is a better fit in Edmonton, and Hall is a better fit in Boston based on the resepctive teams needs. That's likely how it'll play out. If I were Edmonton though, I'd be BEGGING to make that deal.

And as much as it pains me to say so, don't feel too bad Leafs fans. Kessel was a good swap for that 2nd overall pick. If I had to choose between Hall and Kessel, I think Kessel will turn out to be a better player by a fairly wide margin.

I spoke with my friend (who is a boston native and diehard B's fan) and he is absolutely ecstatic.

Apparently the talk was about giving up strictly picks, the second pick and a couple second rounders, but unloading bergeron would be an even better deal for them.

Bergy has always been a fan favorite in beantown, but ever since the cheap shot that put him out for a year, he has not been the same. His offense is not what it was, his defense is not what it was, and his beaming potential is nothing more than a dull glow.

I love bergeron, he is exactly what you want in any player. But pre-injury Bergeron, not this one. I remember when Bergeron WAS the milan lucic of his time. He appears to have aged 10 years however. He is a terrific third line center on a top team because of his defensive ability, second or first liner on a bad team (oilers?). Think of him as a mix between mike richards and jordan stall, but with less offensive prowess. The guy is awesome, but lets be realistic, he is definetly expendable for the right price.....the first overall pick.

Hall will be an Oiler, he grew up in Alberta, yes a flames but, But Iginla was Oilers fan and hes a flamer and there captain...

BPA is model Oilers going with which is Hall.
