Bruins Trade Ward to Hurricanes

I believe this was a request of Ward so that he and his good buddy Scott Walker could play together...

Bruins acquired a pick and Patrick Eaves, who they have already waived. Can I assume they are trying to make room for Kessel?

I wrote this over on another Hockey board. I thought I'd share it here.

As an Eaves fan since his days at BC I would like to see him go to Nashville or the Islanders (or even back with Ryan Shannon in Ottawa, but BMurr doesn't like Eavesy so that won't happen). I was really excited at the prospect of seeing him in a Bruins jersey but the waiver/buyout is better than him being buried on Carolinas roster.

I suspect that the issue is Kessel and within a week he'll be re-signed. Can't imagine why else they might be up to this...

Happy to see that trade. I've heard Ward state before that he regretted not resigning with Carolina after the cup run. He'll be great rounding out our top 4 defencemen. He and Walker are both extremely classy guys, I don't see it being any problems in the locker room, although I bet by the end of the day Aaron Ward is already sick of getting asked questions about Walker.

Eaves was going to become a heathly scratch or 4th liner this year for the Canes, and it would help him to find a place where he can get more ice time and hopefully stay healthy. He's a good PK man, so hopefully that will help him find a new home.

My only beef with the deal is I don't know how I'm going to get rid of all these Eaves rookies I've stockpiled for the local shows...

I wouldn't mind seeing Eaves live up to his potential in Boston....we have a plethora of good d-men anyways so another scorer is always welcomed.
