Vancouver Canucks forward Alexandre Burrows has been suspended for three games, without pay, for a late, illegal check to the head of Montreal Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin during NHL Game No. 147 in Vancouver on Thursday, October 30, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Burrows will forfeit $72,580.65. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

I expected 2 games - given some of the stuff I've seen that gets nothing. (Gryba on Anisimov) (Tropp on Borowiecki) and others - but so be it. Now if they can make sure they stick to the same suspension for the whole year, I'd be thrilled.

Congratulations, you win two prizes.

A) 'Unintentionally funny' post of the season to date.
B) 'Unrealistic optimism' post of the season to date.

Absolutely. Expecting consistency out of the NHL is like wishing for a unicorn to come along and fart out some gold coins.
