buyer never got card question

I guess my post office must be on a direct line? I bought a card that ended just before midnight on September 11th from a guy in California, and I got it yesterday September 20th, and I live an hour north of Toronto. I think that return time is pretty freakin good. It always helps to pay right away, and hit a seller who appreciates that, and mails next day after payment. I think a lot of the time it takes so long, because the seller takes their sweet arse time mailing it. Check the date stamp on the packages.

That seller might be me. I don't know what it is about my part of Los Angeles, but my mail gets shipped super fast from my Los Angeles suburb to Canada and Europe. Based on my feedback, my cards get to their destination in 5 business days to Canada (even less at times), and roughly about that same time to Europe. I have no idea why. Maybe my area is near a big distribution center or something? It's the only thing i can think of.

I don't think you realize how much of a pain in the *** the US Postal Service is. I live in a big city and waiting in the line usually takes 30 minutes at least. THE USPS is downsizing and it makes everything move a lot slower when only one teller is open but there are 15 people waiting in line. When you have a job, taking 30 plus minutes out of a workday to stand at the post office isn't reasonable.

Further, at least 12 of those people in line don't have a clue how to mail their packages so they need to fill out forms while at the teller, or get extra packaging or seal envelopes or something else that experienced sellers don't know what to do.

THis is why I let international buyers know it sometimes takes 6 to 8 weeks to get their items. I wait until I have at least 3-5 international pieces before I ship from the US because of the USPS problems. (I usually keep these packages ready to go in my car just in case an opportunity to mail comes up out of nowhere).

But this is the reality. Most people have lives. They can't spend them at the USPS waiting to ship your $5 matt frattin auto (example).

Just print out your labels online (if you sell on eBay) and drop them off at a mail box.

For shipping domestic, printing labels is easy. The problem is with low value international cards that are not shipped USPS Express ($38 US usually, most people are not paying that for a low value card).

As another poster said, "Prompt" Shipment is left open for interpretation. My auctions says this:
"CANADA AND INTERNATIONAL BUYERS NOTE: Registered mail ($12 usually) or comparable service required if item ends over $50 required. I sometimes waive this requirement, please ask when bidding. However, I prefer to ship USPS Express International by EMS. This costs $38 worldwide and gets you your card within a few business days.

I am a collector first and foremost. I am willing to ship internationally, but understand that shipping may take some additional time, sometimes over six weeks"

However, most people do not read :):|

First Class International shipments are now available through any paypal transaction (non gift/personal payments) - for a 1oz package it costs $3 and prints up very similar to domestic pacakages.

This is great (and news to me)! I have one pending itnernational shipment (waiting for the slow canadian to pay me, its only been 10 days since he won his Jake Gardiner jumbo patch). Can't wait to try it out.

wait a bit, 4-6 weeks after shipping the buyer let me know it had not shown up, I asked him to give it a few more days, and it showed up the next morning.

I bought 2 boxes of cards from a seller in PA. After 30 days, I asked him for the tracking information as I hadn't received the boxes yet. I didn't get a response after 2 days, so I started the claims process. This seller was VERY accusatory and started slandering me and threatening me. He said he had some 3rd party tracking that showed the boxes as delivered, but I still had not gotten them yet. I asked him to show me the 3rd party tracking, and he wouldn't. Anyway, after almost 2 months, the boxes came in and I cancelled the claim. I could have let the claim continue through, but that would have been dishonest of me. I had bought from this seller before, and had no problems. I will never buy from him again.

I think that there's a difference between "shipping time" and the amount of time it takes for a person to mail off a letter after it has been paid for.

Once the package is in the mail, it is out of the seller's hand when it comes to how long it will take for the card to arrive - I get that. But If I pay for an item, I would expect the item to be placed in the mailbox (or dropped off at the post office) in a prompt manner. I can fully appreciate when a person needs to take a few extra days before heading off to the PO to deliver the card. I would just appreciate a simple heads up indicating so. I think if a person has been sitting on the card for a week after I've paid for it, a simple note to let me know not only informs me of the situation, but it tells me that the seller gives a crap that the card is in safe hands until delivered.

Again, I think respectful communication is the key. And I feel that's the area that is a little lacking when it comes to a lot of the issues regarding sending/receiving.
