Started in June 1999 and ended yesterday. It’s been a great 22 year run but I’m not handing them the keys to my bank account and allowing them to charge me 14% on my sales.

Anyone else say “bye, bye!” to eBay this week?

Nope, in fact managed payments has saved me money over eBay + Paypal fees, plus I don't have to worry about paying a huge ebay bill at the end of the month for all my FVFs.

Also, as a power seller, eBay's been very accommodating when it comes to dealing with scummy buyers.
 
I actually like it better now too. I just started a separate bank account to link up to eBay and it hasn’t been much different than PayPal.

Do you sell in US or CND funds? If US do you have it kept US and sent to a Canadian bank US account ?

eBay forced me to do all my listings in Cdn $ starting several years ago. I list on the .CA site and thus the currency thing was forced upon me. Thus the managed payments going out to my CAD chequing account has been transparent for me. :) And as mentioned by others above, I'm not seeing much difference between the 9% FVF and 4% PayPal fee, versus the "new" fee structure. And having the fees deducted at the source (each sale) helped me avoid "invoice shock" from ebay 30 days later with a lump sum of fees that I may not have put funds to the side for.
 
I stopped using ebay when they made it almost impossible to search for cards. Trying to find what I searched for while filtering out all the fridge magnets,spam titles and just flat out wrong listings that have nothing to do with what I searched, it's just not worth the time anymore. But this charging taxes? on the sales, I could see more people leaving, or at least stop selling.
I haven't sold on ebay in a very long time.

I have been using it for about 9 months and I prefer it. I haven't had any of the issues that a lot of people are concerned about. I did the same, opened a separate account just for Ebay, and like Burner said, no need to worry about having enough money in my paypal account at the end of every month.

Nobody like changes, we all prefer the status quo, but in my experience it is not a bad thing.
 
Personally I really like it. I never need to worry about paying final value ever. The money goes directly into my bank account as well. It’s less of a hassle now.

Is there really any differe3nce then giving the electric company or cable or whatever other online payments you have deducted from your account??

If you want to feel safer then just open a separate account for eBay transactions and transfer out of that account as needed.
 
Is it a coincidence that I get a email saying free listing fees this weekend on sports cards, I think not. There has to be a drop in sales due to all the changes.

I’ve had lot’s of contact with ebay before the deadline and I have stopped selling there. The search engine put me off but linking a bank account to a buy and sell company can be very risky…… They don’t specialize in money management? I’ve also had discussions with people who are involved in cyber security and we have no idea how many companies get hacked without our knowledge.

Too big of a red flag for me to ignore

This- seperate bank account for Ebay and other transactions. Also, a slight reduction in the overall fees when everything is said and done. Needed a "business" account anyways for the new tax rules.

For me, this is the bigger issue, it's so hard to search for stuff that I'm spending less time on the Ebay site.

I think the coincidence has to do with eBay having a major part in the Virtual Expo.
 
Changes are 100% better in my opinion!

1. Fees deducted as you go
2. 14% fees rather than up to 18% when paypal was involved
3. Cancel transaction after 4 days rule when buyer doesn't pay; they also can no longer leave feedback
4. Customer service has been Great...call back within 1 minute ALWAYS
5. 3 tiered payment system keeps you informed daily
6. daily exchange rate is identified at the click of a button

So far, knock on wood, I'm enjoying the changes for sure.

There could be indeed that Expo factor however just got another offer with 10 bucks off sports card for today tomorrow. If your invloved( sponser etc) with the show wouldn’t you make that event the focus. It seems like their focus is to get people to spend time and money outside the event and at the same time the virtual vendors are focusing on their selling….
 
I too packed it in. The Managed Payments were just the last straw for me. Being in Canada I appreciated getting payments in US dollars into my PayPal account, which I could convert (or not) to Canadian dollars as I saw fit. Sometimes I bought items and paid in US dollars so I had that currency available to me, no exchange rate and or fees required. I also transferred to my bank account when I wanted to, dealing with the exchange at that time. I had managed my own payments since 1997 when I first started on Auction Web, before it was even called eBay. I don't need or want eBay's help to do it now.
Their previous decision to not allow sellers to leave negative feedback for bidders who deserved it was another poor choice in my opinion.
Overall, this "hobby" is getting too expensive for me anyway. It was probably only a matter of time that I would come to this end.
