With Rinne recently scoring a goal it got me thinking.

Where is my Goalie Goal Game Used and/or Autograph set?

This would be an awesome set for anyone to collect. I would be chasing this from day one.

As a special bonus you can get Keenan Thompson as a solo autograph. His knuckle puck caused havoc in the game against Iceland!

Obviously they would have to be images from the actual shot, too. But here's the main question: are we to include the likes of Billy Smith, who was credited with scoring because he was simply the last to touch the puck? Or are these shooting goalies only, like Hextall, Brodeur, and now Rinne?

Heres what the checklist would be:

Actually shot and scored:

Ron Hextall (2)
Chris Osgood
Martin Brodeur
Jose Theodore
Evgeni Nabokov
Mike Smith
Pekka Rinne

Got credit for a goal:

Martin Brodeur (2)
Chris Mason
Cam Ward
Damian Rhodes
Mika Noronen
Billy Smith

LOL.

This does seem like a cool idea though. Heck, I could actually see this being something Dr. Price would jump on for his President's Choice cards.

Would have been a perfect insert set for BTP back in the day...oh well.

Shoot....Didnt even think about putting it out to the Dr..... Good call on that. This set could be an awesome chase set.

What I mean is if anyone is familiar with UD and the 500HR club Game Used. They put out an initial set that had all the 500HR club members game used and as another made it a new card was produce and added to the set. Being that these are scarce (in when goalies score), this could have a limited print run and get a huge chase.

Just like UD's 500 goal club and 300 win club cards.

Don't forget the 50 different colored rainbow holofoil "PROOF" "TEST" copies of each card, all 1/1, available exclusively through their EBay account.:groove:

What is the difference between list of goalies who shot and scored a goal and the list of goalies who are credited with scoring a goal.

Not sure I understand the different.

Need help.

I think that’s more so of someone just saying that it wasn’t actually shot by the goalie. Thats all.

But I was looking at it when I started the thread as goalies who are credited with a goal, hence goalie goals.

There could be a sub set in there called “The Long Shots” where it specifically is for goalies that have shot and made one in.

And how about getting a SP Dual Auto of Damien Rhodes and the dude who scored a goal one later... I think I remember that happening anyway

A goalie is credited with a goal if they were the last member of their team to touch the puck. An example of this happening would be if on a delayed penalty a goalie made a save, the rebound was possessed by the other team (no whistle to stop play yet) and the player accidentally passed the puck back to the blue line where no one was and it went all the way down into the empty net. In that case, having been the last person on his team to touch the puck, the goalie would be credited with the goal even though he did not physically shoot the puck into the goal himself. Hope that makes sense.

As a Hextall/goalie goal fan, I agree completely! Especially about differentiating between goalies who shot the puck versus goalies who were in net when the other team made a mistake. I swear I'm not just bitter about Brodeur being credited with more goals than Hextall despite only having actually shot the puck into the net once.

2009-10 In The Game Between The Pipes already had the "He Shoots, He Scores" set (Thanks, Dr. Price!), which was a large piece of memorabilia and the date of the goalie goal. They're not easy to find, though. I think black was /30, silver was /9 and gold was 1/1. Also, since it was released in 2010, it doesn't have Mike Smith or (obviously) Rinne, so an update would be cool.

Here's a scan of the three I have. Extra points to ITG for the use of Hextall photos from the correct years.

And I didn't know any "He Shoots, He Scores" existed for the goalies. I just assumed only player varients existed. Anyone have any pics of these goalie goal cards?
