Been selling cards on eBay lately and my cost to ship lettermail with tracking via eBay has gone from 12 bucks to 24. 24 dollars to ship an 8x6 bubble mailer.

Can’t figure out what is going on. Is there an error with my settings or does it really cost 24 to ship a single card from Vancouver to Toronto?

Madness, 24 bucks on a 75 dollar card is insane. Appreciate the feedback, looks I like I need to raise my rates.

Should be able to send "registered mail" for a single card that fits through the slot of doom at the post office for $12-$13. And if its too thick you get bumped to parcel which should be $15-$18.

Will check it out, I don’t get any of those options on the Canada Post
app so may need to go into a post office

I think it depends on the city you're shipping to. Some smaller rural areas would cost a premium. But I think most are still under $20 typically. Have you added any extra insurance?

I've been paying ~20 to ship to Vancouver right now as well so that jives with what I've been paying. Much less when shipping to Quebec. I'm in Ontario myself. I think it's the distance that results in higher fuel rates? I actually don't know if it has changed but you're definitely not alone. I think if you do registered mail you can bring the cost down but I've been doing expedited to hopefully get it there quicker.

The reason you do not get it on the app is because cards are not supposed to be shipped by registered mail. Registered mail is for documents only. That is why it only carries a max of $60 in insurance. If you sign up for small business or venture one than it will save you a bit of money. And you can get expedited service for the same cost as regular parcel. And it comes with the first $100 of insurance free.Good luck. High postage is not good for this hobby.

There are some places in Canada where it costs me almost $25 to send Expedited Parcel, and I have a small business account. Thats almost double what Tracked shipping to the US costs, and more than what Tracked shipping to many European destinations costs me. Boggles the mind.

Rates have gone up across the board. Expedited shipping from Calgary to Quebec went up from $18 to $22.

Send in a bubble envelope via registered mail $11.69. Been doing if for over 25 years without a single problem.

I’ve been doing this for years too. Waiting for them to drop the hammer any time now because they don’t like to let us have nice things.

Just cost me $8 to send a card to the US. Damn.

I've read on a few groups that canadians using the oversized letter service to ship cards to USA got their stuff returned to them in the past couple of weeks. CP is asking them to fill a customs form and to ship as a small parcel. It will affect low-end cross-boarders dealing if they continue to enforce the paper-only rule stricly.

Same, makes me laugh anytime that happens. Though, to be fair, I guess it's about the distance traveled and not if it's country-country?

And for OP, yeah, registered mail is the way. Hopefully CP doesn't shut that avenue off for collectors though, I get why they're changing the US lettermail thing but it sucks. Makes cross-border trades on lower value stuff that much trickier.

To send anything to the US from Canada with tracking will cost at least $15 and that's how it has been for a several years I believe. One trick to save costs on shipping is to ship smaller trades with letter mail and then you will only get charged with the most basic shipping costs.

Canada Post has been sending a lot of cards being shipped letter mail back to sender to enforce their requirement of filling out a customs slip.

I had 3 returned last week and know of lots of others having the same issue

Yep, registered mail is the way to go. However, sometimes province to same province is the same price but quicker to ship as a parcel.

I just had seller reach out and let me know he needs to resend a purchase due to an issue with not enough postage for some reason.

That' crazy! I understand filling out the customs slip online at home and using the QR Code at the post office, but what's wrong with saving some money on shipping?

So - sending now to the USA requires shipping via small packet - cost is $8.88. If you want to send with tracking - cost is $14.00 (my experience is that with tracking delivery takes 4 - 6 business days).
