Canada Post Shipping

I too have never had an issue in 20 plus years, and I too have a great relationship with the office, and none of that has anything to do with this very real crackdown.

In 20+ years never had an issue or returns and have over 1500 transactions.
Just mailed 2 on Friday. Have a great relationship with my P.O. Person.

Your PO person may ship it out for you but it’s not up to them if it gets turned around further down the chain. People getting cards returned now had them shipped by their post office people too.

One more reason I'm glad I no longer sell on eBay.

The same rate would apply to Instagram and Facebook deals that don’t require tracking. EBay has nothing to do with what Canada Post charges.

It's almost like they're purposely sabotaging themselves.

Not sure this is an eBay problem, my issue is with Canada Post. 24 bucks to send a 30g mailer from BC to Ontario is insane. They should be enabling commerce, not crushing it.

The new rules for postage to the USA are just going to result in a lot of people not selling cards to the USA. At $9 to ship, it doesn't make sense to ship much of anything that is less than $30 or so. I used to sell a lot of cards for as low as $1 to the USA... Not anymore. Apparently they have some new tech that allows them to detect the plastic in top loaders. Only a matter of time until it's used on domestic orders too.

I wasn't aware of the new tech. Dang. That is not good news for low-end deals.

I am still using the $3.19 stamps and nothing has been returned to me yet.

I'm given to understand that this is a matter of time.

What's frustrating about this is that Canada Post's own shipping guide states that oversized letter is perfectly appropriate for stuff that can't go in a conventional letter. This feels like a cash grab.

An important note for those who this may affect:

This was obvious to me, but I get the confusion.

My first four packages shipped for $3.19 were returned. The $4.89 was added to the existing shipping, and sent back out.
Days later, a fifth package was returned. This post office worker said the $3.19 was now void, and the full $8.08 was now owed. I said no chance, took the package back and waited to mail today.
Today, the post office lady said the worker was correct, I needed to pay in full. I said again no chance, and she said let's call the big wigs to settle it once and for all. She called their main office, and she was instructed to honour the original $3.19 as it was postage on an item that had yet to be delivered.
Hope that helps anyone who runs into this.

Had to change my shipping rates for the USA, had one message from guy saying " so since we might charge $8-12 to send to you, your gonna charge $9 to send to us "
Just sent him a link for a post of the new rates.
While I understand CP has lost money, and they know our hobby is booming, they will notice how their plan will decrease mail to the USA. Which I am sure will only cause the oversize postage to hit the roof.
I had 3 packages come back with custom forms on them, but wrong postage, one came back a second time saying I was still $0.03 short, on it, and they cancelled the postage already on the envelope which means I had to pay twice since lady had no clue how to cancel it off. One big money grab

I mailed a package from Alberta to California early last week and it arrived safely at the US address. I was surprised when I got the word that it arrived!

Just shipped two cards, tracked. 50g in bubble mailer, to PEI and my cost was $30.25. Fuel surcharge and tax were as much as my cost total ship to the USA.

Have had to up my tracked shipping to $30. Don't expect to sell much within Canada. What a joke our postal system is.

Will try that, does it come with tracking and can you add insurance? Guess you need to leave eBay shipping as well, don’t aee that as an option.

Dam thats high. Its would be cheaper to use those flat rate boxes that can hold up to 11lbs at the heaviest.
There are 3 sizes. Price
small $18.49 med. $23.49 Large $29.99
