Great game so far! (at least if you are from Canada). Downey scored a beauty. Anyone think Canada can keep the shut out streak going? Really impressed with the Marchand-Downey-Colgliano line and the defence as a whole!

Great game. Same some gliches in the armour but nothing major. The Usa could be on the outside looking in very shortly!!!

Is it just me or did the US junior program get very weak, very fast? They're just a few years removed from the Dream Team that won the tourney.

They seem to have the same problem every year. Tons of talent, and then they never quite put it together. There always seems to be evidence of egos not meshing especially well - apparently most of the team hated Kessel last year (Johnson and Skille for sure). This year, Mueller slapping his stick before he backchecked on the Toews breakaway that turned into a penalty shot, etc. Heck, even Mueller being the only guy wearing a jersey higher than about #40. Doesn't look like a guy willing to put the team before himself.

The US is still churning out top players, just look at the last few drafts, and they have been very successful at the Under-18 tourneys, but once they add in guys who haven't been playing together all season with their NTDP, things don't seem to work out very well.

I believe its coaching. i don't think you could bring together many 17-19 year old teams and have them mesh without a good coach. Canada has the focus on hockey and the team, they are brought up knowing this is a special opportunity and that the country is watching. For the US it is another chance to showcase themselves. I ws interested that they left Bobby Ryan off the team.
