Someone paid $42K for a 15 minute meet & greet with Jeremy Lin, they also got the game used jersey (the whole jersey) from his 38 point effort against the Lakers. And that was valued at $3,500, but was apart of a charity event. What is the rationale for spending that much for the card? I'm not sure.

Basketball collectors don't follow the same "rules" as collectors of other sports. They are insane and throw all logic out the window. No way that card holds a fraction of that value over the long term.

god i wish i was hoarding Jeremy Lin before....

I was looking at eBay sales from a month ago. His NT rookies were going for about $25. They now sell for $2500-$3000 ungraded. Imagine if someone had the foresight to buy 10-15 of those when they were dirt cheap. It would be a 10,000% profit... I'm crying inside :|

of course none of the scrub pulls in hockey ever take off like mad....

I have a strong feeling many of the bidders are Chinese.

Chinese people are crazy when it comes to niche collectible items. ie. I sold a set of Air Jordans (4-19) for $12k

Lin-asity! I picked him up in my Fantasy Basketball league after his first 2 big games (low risk high reward as I dropped a "bench" player who was playing poorly) and now he is consistently playing well for me! He's basically the Tim Tebow story of the NBA this season haha

I don't like that comparison at all. People like to use it because they are both religious and winning when they were not expected to. Problem is, Tebow had hype coming out of high school, college, draft, first season, etc. Lin had nothing coming out of high school, college, draft, first season etc. The truest football comparison would be TOM BRADY.

Tebow came in when his team sucked, Brady and Lin came in when the starter got injured.

Not a Lin fan, just hate media stories that are stupid.

I'm not a big Basketbal fan or Football fan (basically just stick to hockey), so i haven't heard any of those comparisions or looked in to them haha. Apologies there! I'm just speaking from the point of both of the 2 players getting "BLOWN" up in the media, to the point you can't help but hear about the 2 of them, even if you don't follow the sport too closely.

This is the first year I've started paying any attention to basketball, and its just because I joined a buddies Fantasy League. Certainly makes the games more exciting to watch!

Yeah I'm not a bball fan but it's hard to avoid it when this guy is on every espn show ever. I am a football fan though and don't think Tebow deserves very much of teh attention he's getting. That's why it annoys me. Maybe if the knicks win the championship the tebow stuff will stop.

Just for references. Ebay has a George Washing, Thomas Jefferson dual cut auto up for 25k BIN OBO. Pretty sure that would be cheaper than Lin which is crazy.
