McGuire's an idiot and a flat out liar. Last season he couldn't stop saying nice things about Gainey. It got to the point where I wanted to puke. He made Gainey and the staff sound like they were the second coming. Now that there's a hiccup in the season, McGuire's been all over Gainey and Carbo. What changed Pierre? Nothing. Same team, same staff, added several veteran players to upgrade the team...

I love that he's calling Carbo a good coach when a couple weeks ago McGuire wouldn't shut up about how bad Carbo and Gainey both were.

He's also a flat out liar too. He went on Team 990 not too long ago and said that Montreal was a recipient of transfer payments from other teams prior to the lockout. Lo and behold, there was a CBC article in the database from the very same year that says the Canadiens were one of the few teams handing out welfare checks to other teams.

McGuire just likes to hear himself speak.
 
lets just keep firing coaches every year or two. Never sign any good players and lets keep finishing ,7 or 8th and losing in the first .We rule! Go Habs Go!
 
Let's also stop hiring coaches because they can speak french and stop hiring ones that aren't friends of the GM

I'm not going to talk about Koivu's leadership, I don't know him, and I don't know what he does in the dressing room. But I do know he puts in countless hours at the Montreal Children’s Hospital. Because of Saku, I too donate money every year. The guy is a class act. Not a bad player for being around 13 years in the same organization.

As for Kovalev, everyone knew exactly what they were getting when they signed him.

Price in the minors? Maybe, maybe not. I'm happy he's not, but I do collect him, and I'm friends with his dad, and other close people around Carey.

I guess we'll see how the team does in the next 15 games.

Your love affair with Carey is becoming borderline disturbing to be honest. I have no idea why you started chanting his name (in a thread about Carbo being fired) but continously fawning over a 22 year old can be miscontrude by many people.

Is it necessary to drop to your knees every post in bliss of the almighty Price? Are you trying to imply something here?

Maybe I'm reading too much into this but I think you might have an unhealthy obssession with the guy.

Anyone that might know Carey please advise him he has a rabbid stalker in the making ;)

There has been a very quick improvement under Gainey. 1st last year, top 5 most of this season. What do you figure is next?

I pretty much do it to see how many people like you come on here to trash me. It's sick isn't it? But at the same time I'm hardly serious. That's the difference between we infantrymen and civilians. Especially ones who spent over 4 years in reconnaissance. Evil soldiers! :owned:
 
It's about time. He lives just a couple streets from me, and I always liked him as a player, but this had to happen.
I hope after Gainey's interim stint that the Habs look for the best coach, and not the best former player, or best francophone. It's time to catch up with the rest of the league and to do that we need to hire a top coach with experience.

I would never take anything away from Koivu's charitable endeavours. He's been easily one of the games greatest ambassadors away from the arena, and I have nothing but the highest respect for him in that area. But the love affair with Koivu the hockey player should have ended a fair time ago. And the argument about Kovalev doesn't hold water for me. Nobody should be forced to come up with an excuse for his laziness and laisssez faire attitude. And as for Carey, I have no doubt he's the future in net for the franchise. But Gainey's utter determination to justify to the legions of fans who said "WHO????" when he was drafted 5th overall is starting to wear very thin. If the organization continues to feed him to the sharks every night because they can't admit they made a mistake of bringing him up too soon in his development, then Gainey's behind should be kicked out the door too.

The one thing I won't miss about Carbo is his insistence on changing his lines on a per shift basis. Talk about frustrating.

The one thing I won't miss about Carbonneau is that stupid grin, and his constant whining to the refs.
 
I won't miss:

musical chair lines
putting our 4th line out there to get the game tying goal with 90 seconds to go
never calling a timeout
calling players out in public, his snide attitude (saying he should lace them up and play)
realizing that Koivu and Kostitsyn should play together 65 games into the season
defending a 1 goal lead for 55mins
0 fore checking (5 men back)
always playing to the opposing coaches strategy instead of other teams playing into ours.

What improvement? They are in the same spot they are always in. struggle to make the playoffs and lose if they make it?In three weeks it will be more of the same? Wow we are top 5 in the east BFD.
 
Shane they will never understand your humor and I bet you thrive on it LOL, I'm a civilain and I get it LOL, as for Carbo you can say what you want but if they boys don't like him than what can you do, it's a win win for everyone but Gainey, if they tank then he is on the hook, and if they play good then he looks like the hero. If the rumors are true about the players dislike for Carbo then this should take care of that problem, also it gives Gainey a firsthand look at the pending free agents.

Let's see..... 1st in the East last year.... won the first round of the playoffs.

sholi - well, even if you had an obsession, then so be it, you met the guy's dad and him on separate occasions, so I would at least expect you to either collect him or have high praises.
koondog - if you knew anything about hockey, you would know that Price is one of only 5 goalies in NHL history to have 20+ wins at the age of 20....and also tied for most shutouts by a rookie in a playoff series with 2, but he sucks as a goalie and was only the starter of the ASG....we will see who wins Cups and Vezinas for the next 15 years, sure as heck won't be you

My ultimate decision for a coach, who owes it to the HABS franchise and who has proven he can win at any level, albeit as a player or coach, and would be the greatest thing that could happen to young Carey Price....are you ready:

LE NUMERO 33.....PATRICK ROY

The reasoning for this (being an extremely knowledgeable person of the sport we call hockey)....he had a penchant for going into the room as a player and motivating everyone to the point where they believed miracles could happen...you don't think he can do that as a coach....

He has the french background, a Memorial Cup under his belt and now roughly 3-4 years of coaching experience in the QMJHL...he knows how to handle the pressure in Montreal, and would certainly get the best out of his players with his fiery style....just the kind of guy we need.

He can come back and help the HABS to the promise land. As Toe Blake became one of the best coaches in NHL history after having 15 years playing experience with the HABS, there is no reason Patrick Roy can't do the same. He bring in guys like Robinson as a D coach and Francois Allaire back to show Carey the ropes and how to beat Patrick's old records....
