I'm heading down to Seattle for 2 days on monday and was wondering if there was any card shops in the area?

I actually have no idea where I am going when I am there and I don't know anything about the area except I know its Seattle when I see it (and the signs), so with that in mind other than card shops is there like a "downtown" area I should be on the look out for? (Because that is most likely where I'll book my hotel near there)

Send a PM to timber09 (Joe). I'm sure he can help you. I don't recall any in the downtown area; they tend to be in the outlying cities like Kent, Federal Way, Auburn, etc.

If you are looking for hockey, you may be disappointed. I went to four the last time I was down there, and the hockey selection was definitely lacking, to say the least.

mill creek sports cards in Bothell, or west coast sports cards in federal way are 2 that come to mind

How far are these from the downtown area? Ill be brining a gps so finding them shouldnt be a problem. (and if anyone can tell me where exactly the downtown area is, that'd be great so i can punch it in the gps)

Mill Creek and West Coast do not have a selection of hockey that is worth checking out. West Coast is a great store, but if you re looking for hockey specifically, don't bother. I have been to both in the past year. Bothell is about 25 minutes northeast of downtown, and Federal Way is about 25 mnutes south. If you try to get to either in rush hour you are absolutely hooped.

The Space Needle is at the north edge of downtown. As a comparison for you, if you consider the entrance into Stanley Park as the place the Space Needle is, the downtown core is about the same distance away. There are a few hotels around the Space Needle.

Qwest Field and Safeco Field are at the very edge of the south edge of downtown. Anything between there would be considered downtown. If you need somewhere for your GPS, find the Seattle Library and use that. It's pretty centrally located in teh downtown core.

Wow that helps a lot, thanks!

Card Exchange on Highway 99 in North Seattle has the most hockey of any shops in the state I believe. They have a ton of early to late 90's wax if you're into the older stuff for fun (especially Pacific), and they have some newer wax. They have a few customers who buy all their high end stuff early so unless you get there right when high end stuff hits, you are usually out of luck. They have the newer mid-low end products in stock most of the time though. Here is their info:

Card Exchange
14020 Aurora Ave
Seattle, WA 98133
(206) 452-4686

Owners name is Ryter, one of the oldest card shops in the area, 100% family run business. Usually his wife and kids are working, along with the dog that will greet you with licks as soon as you come in the door. They also have the biggest supply of singles, some interesting old school cards in the case (a buddy and I sold him our singles collections a few times in the 90's).

Cool I better go check them out. Well I'm off then!
