I hade made a trade with someone from Cedar Falls, Iowa. I got their envelope in the mail in a timely fashion. I had opened it up and their was nothing inside of it. First thing thinking is that I just got ripped off. His package came with a tracking number so at least it would be proved that his end was send and delivered.

I will be honest and I kinda blasted them in a PM. They were telling me that they had sent the cards in it and started to blame me. They had great feedback so it was not like I was trading with a new member who was out to rip people off.

Anyways upon further review I see this on the package:

Someone had took a knife or a scalpel and cut a very small line and took the cards out. Now this could have been done on either side of the border. I went to my Post Office and only the sender can open a claim. I have mailed the envelope back to him as his evidence in the claim.

These are the cards that are missing:

number 35 of 50

number 33 of 75

If anyone happens to see either card can you please let me know.

Thanks for any help.

Jeff

Also have any of you guys ever had this happen to you?

Sucks there's been so many unfortunate events in the hobby lately. Ask the seller if he packed the cards there in person at his post office. The only thing that would make sense is the teller seeing the cards packed up and did the scam in the back room after he left. Otherwise why bother at the sorting facility if the total worth is only $50.

this happened to my buddy a few years ago ....he traded a frozen foursomes auto jersey quad ...when he got the package and opened it there was a note inside that said you suck or something like that and no cards

At least I am happy that it was two numbered cards at least. If it were say a Young Gun then the cards would be gone forever. I still do technically have a chance if finding them now. Hopefully whoever too them will be stupid enough to list them on eBay eventually.

These criminals do tend to be incredibly stupid. I like your chances. Sorry about the massive hassle though.

I had a similar situation happened to me in a $1500+ trade in cards, I received an emptied top loaders, with the enveloped cut, later I found out that the whole thing was staged and none of the cards he was trading were his, police were contacted and it went nowhere ....

So it can definitely go both ways

But you can find out a couple of things from the package, especially the weight of the package, take 2 cards of similar pts, put them in top loaders and weight them, if it matches the weight written on the package, the package went through a shady worker, and you can probably launch a investigation

If not, then unfortunately the seller was probably tried to pull a fast one

That really sucks. I hope the cards make it to you, or the thief is caught.

Something I try to use is tape that looks like this.

I figure if anyone was gonna try and steal the contents, they might think twice about it seeing this tape on it. I havent had any issues sending things. Best thing is I picked up a big roll of it for $1 at a dollar store.

I hope this all works out for you.

As far as customs are concerned I never write "sports cards" with a high value on there. That is why your items got stolen. I write sports photographs and $5 value on almost everything I send. Nothing has happened so far.

The day that I got the package I went to the Post Office right away. They said that only the sender can open a case. I have shipped the envelope back to the sender. He will try with USPS.

I will be honest here. I do not think that their will be much of a chance of getting anything back. My guess is that USPS will say that it happened in Canada with Canada Post and Canada Post will say that it happened in the States with USPS.

Does anyone know if you send something with USPS, does it automatically come with any insurance?

That is a good idea.

I do the same thing. For description I just put "Pictures"

I hope this all works out for you.
