OK ... decided that I was going to open at least half a case ...
BOX #5
JERSEYS:
Game Jerseys - Marc Denis, Olli Jokinen
Shooting Stars Jerseys - Eric Lindros
YOUNG GUNS:
Duncan Keith
Keith Ballard
Braydon Coburn
Alexander Perezhogin
Ryane Clowe
Jaroslav Balastik
INSERTS: (no scan)
Hometown Heroes - Mike Modano, Martin Brodeur
Goal Rush - Rick Nash, Marian Hossa
School of Hard Knocks - Ed Jovanovski
Playoff Performers - Martin St. Louis
OVERALL - Without question - the absolute worst box of the bunch. Not a single decent Young Gun...and the jerseys left much to be desired.
BOX #6
NHL Generations Dual - Steve Yzerman / Jason Spezza
Game Jerseys - Tony Amonte, Martin Biron
YOUNG GUNS:
Zach Parise
Alexander Steen
Yann Danis
Brent Seabrook
Peter Budaj
Brett Lebda
(same as my first box)
INSERTS: (no scan)
Hometown Heroes - Joe Thornton, Jaromir Jagr
Goal Rush - Mario Lemieux, Mike Modano
School of Hard Knocks - Scott Stevens
Playoff Performers - Jarome Iginla
(also exactly the same as the first box
)
OVERALL - Frankly I think it's absolutely inexcusable that the exact same Rookies are in the boxes - why not just put a flashing neon sign on the box so the dealer knows where the Crosby's or other good rookies reside. On top of that, not only were the Young Guns exactly the same, but so were the non-memorabilia inserts - that's just sheer lazyness on the part of Upper Deck and their sorting methods. The only reason that this box wasn't a complete disappointment for me was fact that the Young Guns were decent ... and of course the Yzerman/Spezza...
Well based on these two boxes I'm almost certain that the last six boxes are going up for sale. Frankly, the lack of excitement around knowing which Young Guns you're going to get just by the first one you pull pretty much kills the fun of breaking the box ... and having pulled the Triple, a Double, a Patch, and of course the Crosby for my PC, there just isn't a ton of incentive to bust the other half of the case ... there's going to be at least another Double there, and maybe a Crosby, but I'm pretty happy with the first six and I wouldn't want the second six to be a downer...
Again, I'll listen to offers on anything above, but trading is gonna be kind of tough based on my limited wants...
