Chalk this one up in the "I need a life bin."

I cared about ebay feedback when I first started. People are hesitant from buying from a new seller. Now that I'm over 1000 (all positive might I add, lol) I could care less if someone leaves feedback.

Opps, sorry.... I leave my feedback as a seller when I package the item.

I have to chuckle. Watching this thread evolve, it clearly didn't go in the direction intended by the OP. Which makes the title all the funnier.

I thought the same.
Its like everything else in society, people only say something when it is not what they wanted.
Personally i dont always leave feedback, i forget or dont do so till the card arrives and i have other stuff to do at that time. I would love to see ebay stats on how many buyers actually leave feedback? When a seller has 20k in feedback score what does my "ships quickly, thanks for the card" mean.
As for sellers who hound me, i understand their fees are correlated with them.

my 2 cents.

In the past I would bug sellers to leave me feedback after a few weeks. I no longer do so. Now when I get my item I check to see if the seller has left feedback for me. If he has, and there are no other issues, he gets 5 stars in all the ratings automatically. If he hasn't left me feedback, he gets 3 stars for communication and 4 stars max in the other ratings.

WHAT??! Dude, that doesn't make sense in anyway. Not like I really care about how many stars I get from you, but that seems a bit silly. Don't see any reason why you would ding them if they just haven't gotten around to giving you feedback before you got your item?! Especially if you got the card in good condition, and at a good time, and everything else went fine?!?!

Doesn't make sense to me at all. just my 2 cents.

Agreed, those are some pretty harsh ratings for not leaving feedback.

If you read the description attached to each rating you will see that 4 stars is a very good rating. Most people do not deserve 5 stars anyway. Think about it. If seller A charges $2.00 for shipping and Seller B charges $3.50, why should they both get 5 stars? If seller A ships same day or next morning and seller B ships 2 days after, why should they both get the same rating?

You're obviously not a seller. Do you realize that if a seller's ratings drop below 4.8, he/she gets dropped in the search results? 4 Stars is CRAP. If everyone gave me 4 Stars I'd be at the bottom of the search listings

Just because seller A decides to take a loss on his shipping doesn't mean that should be the standard. I give 5 stars on shipping price if it's not over-the-top. If it seems like it basically pays for the seller's costs then why doesn't he deserve it?

Same goes for shipping time. As long as I get my item in a reasonable amount of time, I give 5 stars. If seller A has no job and ships immediately while seller B waits 2 days because he's too busy, do they not both deserve it?

I think you're way too harsh on your star ratings my friend and if that's the case, let me know your ebay id so I can avoid getting dinged on a sale to you

You are single-handedly CRUSHING sellers on a daily basis...... what is your eBay handle?? I meet some of your requirements, but I am not willing to take the chance.

Your problem is with Ebay. It is not my fault Ebay punishes sellers who; describe cards "Accurately", communicate "Satisfactory", ship "quickly" and charge "reasonably". I can only assume many buyers see nothing wrong with rating sellers in this way. They surely do not think they are penalizing a seller.

Seriously?? Punishing sellers thru their feedback rating for not leaving feedback before they know you the buyer has received the card?

I agree 100% with the above. I see your ebay handle is also habsheaven.

What's your ebay id? In the event I end up selling anything ever again, I'd like to be assured that I've eliminated you from the pool of potential buyers.

Here we go again. It must please you guys to no end to always find a new person to PILE ON. Go ahead, I can handle it. Don't bother to address the real issue, just attack another member. The sense of ENTITLEMENT on this site is amazing. (Hmmm.. seems I've heard that somewhere else?)

Me too please. Ebay places multiple sanctions on any seller who has their ratings fall below 4.8.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel any better. In the meantime, I'll go the extra mile to avoid dealing with you at all.

How is this about a sense of entitlement? What we are telling you are FACTS. 4 Stars is not good for an eBay seller. Yet you will keep rating things your way regardless. Why would we as sellers want that?

And being blind to what's wrong with your original statement is pretty amazing, too.

Rereading this statement: THIS is entitlement.

"eBay should use MY definitions, clearly theirs are wrong. They're misusing the words, I'm using them correctly, so therefore nobody should have a quarrel with me."

Reality-denial at its finest.
