Chris Drury retires.

Can't say anything bad about the guy, but he could have saved the Rangers some more dough if he retired before we bought him out (like Naslund). He deserved a final payday though.

The guy was about as classy an athlete as you will find. Sad to see his career tailor off like it did, he was a good player who scored some huge goals in his career.

Injuries took their toll. He had some good seasons in Colorado and was very well respected in Buffalo (before going to NY)

Yeah. Seems like NYR were irked by him. But AVS and BUF fans loved the guy. He was always a sharks killer and as clutch a player as anyone. I, for one will miss the guy.

It was a good run Chris. I'll always remember your years here.

Most Avs fans still have your trade pegged as the worst in team history. You will be missed.

I was a big fan of Drury in his days in CO. The year where him and Hejduk were battling for the Calder was awesome. Also Chris Drury was a Little League World Series Champ. Not many athletes can claim that no matter what sport they play.

He always came through in the playoffs - can't ever doubt the man's heart whatsoever

I wouldn't be surprised if he came out of retirement back to Buffalo, after they clear cap space. He has showed interest in returning here, you never know.

For those who missed it, Drury was diagnosed with a degenerative knee condition about 2 months ago. This is why it took so long for the Rangers to buy him out.

He might just be the classiest guy in the game, and the classic case of a captain who leads by example. I know he had a huge influence on Cally and Dubs, and Rags fans are grateful for that. He is the type of guy that every championship team needs to have to succeed, and I am not even talking about his propensity for scoring the winner.

Random fact of the day: He is 55th in career playoff goals, and 5th in playoff game winners. He has 17 GW's out of 47 goals in only 135 games. That gives him a 12.6% chance of (Hull is closest with an 11.8%).

Forgot to add that he won the little league world series, national pee wee championship, college championship with BU, Hobey Baker award, Calder trophy (first player to win both 0he HB and CT), and the Stanley cup. The guy has a 'gamer' pedigree if ever there was one.

He deserved a great career, its a shame it had to go this way. I wonder which bench he will end up behind....

I love watching him play both LLWS and hockey!!

him and his brother (Ted) used to run a camp in the summer time in western CT back in the day
