The thread about playoff breakouts had me thinking about a guy from years past that had a playoff breakout - Chris Kontos.

Looking at his career stats, he appeared to be a pretty solid player that had some really flashy moments (4 goals in a game with Tampa, 6 points in a game with LA, the 9 goals in 11 games with LAK in the playoffs.) In his last NHL season with Tampa, he had almost 30 goals only to never be seen in the league again.

Why couldn't he stick anywhere? It looks like he bounced up and down from the IHL a lot and even took off and played overseas at parts in the prime of his career. Was he a defensive liability, or did he have poor work ethic or something? Maybe someone who followed the Rangers, Penguins or Kings a lot in the mid-late 1980s would be able to speak on this?
