I was looking up players on hockeydb, when I found this:

2000-Jun-12 Traded from Montreal Canadiens to Minnesota Wild for round 6 pick in the 2001 draft

On Jacques Lemaire's page:
http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=3095

Seems to be corroborated by this quote:
6th round – no pick (moved to Montreal as compensation for Jacques Lemaire signing)

http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/2497/minnesota_wild_draft_preview/

Is this the only time a non-player was traded in the NHL? What other wacky trades/deals have happened in the history?

Probably the worst trade in NHL history. Michel Bergeron for a first rounder (15th overall) and the Nordiques selected Joe Sakic with that pick. Ironically Bergeron returned to the Nordiques after being fired by the Rangers.
