The local hobby shop has a considerably large array of comics, but the owner has indicated to me that he has little or nothing in the way of comics that might be appropriate for kids. It seems that even the mainstream superhero comics (Superman/Batman/Spiderman etc) are aimed at a PG13 audience or above these days.

Can anyone suggest a series of comics, preferably relatively mainstream, that are actually child appropriate?

My 8 year old likes Scooby Doo, Uncle Scrooge, Teen Titans (animated series), Batman animated, Muppet's, Archie, Peanuts (I buy him the digest and soft covers), older disney comics (Hewy, Dewy & Lois, Donald Duck, super goof, etc..) plus a few others. There are a lot of cool comics out there that are aimed at young readers.

Marvel has the Super Hero Squad comics that go along with the animated series.

DC has the Tiny Titans and Super Friends comcs on there DC Kids label along with Scooby Doo and Looney Toons among others.
