Hi everyone,

With the 12th Edition of UM, I can't believe how expensive seller sells their Connor Mcdavid cards.

His cards are listed and sells more than Sidney Crosby ITG auto's.

What will it be in his rookie year?

Don't you think it's a little ''''''stupid'''''' to pay that much for someone who still have 2 years to prove himself before getting a superheroe in the show?

Tavares had more points than him at 15 in the OHL. Tavares cards doesn't even sell for 40% of Mcdavid cards.

I would have loved to grab one patch auto, because the patch with Erie jersey are completly awesome but at this price, I will pass, those cards CAN'T increase in value..

What are your tought ?

He's the flavour of the week. People are falling all over themselves because he really has no other cards (and won't for a while). That's the beauty of ITG...they get the cards of some of these future stars out first and people go nuts for them. Crosby and Ovechkin were the same deal...their ITG stuff went nuts once they hit the market because UD had nothing at that point.

I doubt you're new to collecting, but speculating has been part of this hobby as far back as I can remember. A LOT of people buy high and sell low and it's what makes the hobby world go round.

That being said, I would NEVER spend a huge amount on Connor McDavid's cards but if I pulled one, you can bet I'd want a lot for it.

Are we under the assumption that future value is all that's important and everybody is taking it into account when buying these cards? I would bet there are some Otter fans throwing bids on some of this stuff because they just want a nice high-end card of their young franchise player.

These cards also have game-used patches from McDavid's rookie Otters CHL jersey, which to some collectors (myself included) makes the cards way more desirable than a patch cut from those bland SUBWAY Series or CHL Top Prospects jerseys.

He will also be a star player for Canada for years to come and is coming off a huge performance at the Under-18's. Tavares followed a similar path through Junior but he's in the NHL now and people have moved on to his NHL stuff. It's the sad truth that most ITG cards of these players will start to drop in price once they spend a few years at the highest level.

McDavid is a fresh face with a lot of promise and he only has a handful of nice cards at this early stage of his career so fans and flippers alike are going to want a piece of them. Without knowing the intentions of the buyers we can't say what's crazy and what isn't, but I bet it's not just flippers driving the prices up on these cards for the sole purpose of reselling later. If I was an Erie fan and I could buy a McDavid card with a sweet CHL rookie gamer patch I'd probably pay those prices too because how often does a player like that come along?
