Cormier suspended >>>

He will likely pop up somewhere in the NJ system. I still believe that you should sit out your suspension no matter what. Lets hope that the AHL stands by the suspension.

I believe they will. He will likely practice with the team but I doubt they'll allow him to play the rest of the season

if he wants to play hockey for rest of season let him play nhl 10 not on ice...glad they suspended him for remainder of season and playoffs...

he said his elbow was a reflex... but whenever i played hockey i never had a reflex to pop up a cheap elbow...such bs coming out of him..he knew what he did and did it on purpose

That's the best excuse he can come up with? A reflex? So that means, next time he's put in a similar situation we can expect a similar result - nice work - talked your way out of that one well.

The hockey world is a better place without this guy on the ice.

Did he give an excuse for the earlier cheap shots at World Jrs??

He had one of those George Costanza elbow conditions.

He can play in the NHL right now, but he wouldn't be able to play in the AHL until the Huskies season is officially over.

wow........He didn't even make an attempt at a clean hit. Just wow. Definitely deserved, and thats coming from me the barbarian.

Huskies are appealing the suspension.

Seems odd, since Cormier made this statement, "I respect the decision of the QMJHL even if I find it too severe. I deeply regret the circumstances surrounding this event and I wish Mikael Tam a speedy and full recovery. Thanks for your attention."

He made the statement after the appeal was announced... he did not field questions, either.

Good to know that if the suspension holds, he cannot play for the Devils or their AHL team until his Q team is eliminated from the playoffs.

I hope he just sits out and does some serious soul searching. How is it even possible to the team or player to appeal a decision ater such a ridiculous play...

his reflex is to naturally throw an elbow after conciously skating towards the guy? that sounds like an admittance of guilt right there.

From the teams point of view, they just traded for him, and "paid" alot for his services for the remainder of the year, and a hopeful Memorial Cup run, and to have him sit (in their eyes) for 48 games, they felt it was too much on a team basis. Ultimately, It's a risk the team has to make, Cormier could've been the one injured in his 3rd game and they wouldn't be able to do anything about that either.

I believe the Huskies are appealing it due to the fact their is no finite number attached to the suspension. Basically, the suspension is anywhere from 24 games to 48 games. That's a fair sized gap. I imagine the Huskies will try to negotiate a number of around 35 games or so.
