Crack Them Slabbed Cards Open

I just use needle nosed pliers and a flat head screw driver and one thing I have not seen anyone mention the most important thing and that is: GOGGLES. That plastic can fly and hit ones eye and that can be serious. The toughest one to crack is the Beckett ones the PSA are the easiest I can crack one in less that a minute. Use the needle nose pliers on each top corners and turn downward and then just pry and pop with the screw driver.

Cool. Just read one of Jeremy’s posts and he said that he opened one with his fingernail. Bodes well for me.

100% believable. I have cracked enough KSA slabs to the point I just twist the case until I hear a crack, run my fingernail along the seem and proceed to pop the top half of the slab off.

Same thing with PSA's old slabs. Their new ones...not so much.

Masking tape. Wrap the end of the slab in masking tape, takes care of the flying bits rather well.

Cracking PSA Slabs?

Anyone have luck cracking open one of the new version PSA slabs and willing to share your process? I've opened older PSA, BGS, SGC in the past but this new PSA slab looks like a tank. Thanks

If you've got a Swiss army knife, use the bottle opener option. Use it at both label-end corners to break the seal. Then twist to separate the slabs enough to get your fingers in and you can pry it apart, no trouble.

The older PSA slabs didn't even need that. Just a good hard twist and the seal would pop.

Right on, so it's still easy, the new case just looks more "intimidating."

I use a tile cutter to clip a corner and then something to pry it open. I don't trust myself using Quincy's method, but his method is good also.
