Just got off the phone with my wife.

She's out west, was just in a card store, and bought me a pack of 01-02 UD Premier for $100.

Was this too much? I know that chances of getting one of the big guns aren't great, but I am just wondering what the going rate is on this stuff.

In terms of rookies, that product is pretty much dead meat. Kovalchuk and Datsyuk are the only two who will make your money back. Even the other autographed rookies have fallen off the face of the earth -- a Vaclav Nedorost just sold for $6!

There are probably some good limited veteran autographs in there, but I'm not too familiar with that end of things.

Best of luck with the break though!

Right now, she's at her fourth Target of the day looking for Target Memorabilia packs. She's already been to two of the three card stores that are there.

She bought up all the dollar packs they had (02-03 Fleer Throwbacks, 01-02 BAP Memorabilia, 00-01 UD Prospects, etc).

The best part is, I didn't have to ask her to do it. She was excited about this part of her trip because she got to go look for packs in a new city.

Now, the question is...can she stand to have unopened packs in her hotel room with her? Hehehe, wouldn't surprise me if they were all open when she gets here...hehehe...

OK...I'm officially jealous now. I thought it was great when my wife collected Chris Drury cards (Avs days), but that still cost ME money. I've never had her buy ME cards.....LOL

Hehehe, she's worse than I am sometimes.

She collects players from Hawaii and a certain basketball player because she thinks he's "hot". And I buy her cards for her collections whenever I can.

But she loves it. She plans our vacations around other cities where we can go to get cards.

For example, we're going to Detroit for Thanksgiving so we can go to the Gibraltar show.

She's beautiful too. Very very smart (she was a finalist for the Rhodes Scholar program and designs nuclear reactors for a living). And just as big a sour-*** as I am (you probably don't even notice when she's posting here instead of me).

She's a keeper and then some, Bob! ;) :D
Hope she lands ya a real gem, other than her being an awesome fan o' cardboard herself!

Hang on Bob... your wife buys YOU cards???? She collects herself????? Dayum! My wife just shakes her head at me and says "why do you spend so much on pictures on cardboard... She's young though... so much to teach... so little time! ;) Congrats on having such a supportive wife... mine is actually supportive too, but just totally NOT into the hobby. Oh well... she's a hot tall blonde, so that offsets her collecting-flaws... hehe...

Your wife must be a 1/1..lol..get it?

meh,I'm tired. :D

In all seriousness, good luck with the breaks and thanks for the story.

Thanks for the comments, guys!

She's been out of town for the week, so I have taken this opportunity to buy her Christmas present for her - two boxes of 05-06 Heroes and Prospects Series II.

She's gonna be SO HAPPY!
