Crosby Cup ARP /99 Ebay Sale....

Also want to add that I acknowledge that the hobby has participants who hoard cards with the intention of profiting from them in the future. And several of those participants hold many of the Cup /99 RC's with little to no intention of collecting but rather to buy low and sell high. But just because some people approach it that way does not mean that everyone who buys a card for 5 figures is not a collector.

Are there not similar events and personalities in other "hobbies" like car collecting, fine arts, wine, etc?

There are those that drink a nice $40 bottle of wine for the enjoyment of it and there are those that collect wine of unreal value for the bragging rights of their collection and there are those who pick and choose their collecting with sheer resale value in mind.

Good, bad or otherwise I don't see a real difference - only in dollars.
